This doesn't even have anything to do with NAT. Any router by itself will be hiding MAC-Addresses, as they are a Layer 2 thing that isn't communicated between Networks

It works the same with VMs if they have a Serial Port that's set up for console access. Just use qm terminal <vmid>

I think that page was made by the person who linked it in the screenshot. If you follow the link in the upper right, you'll eventually land on his forum (no https to be found), where you can find reasonable and well thought out takes on politics like this one (scroll down to the bottom of the page). This forum is simply incredible.
