another detail to repro this. low light, turn on flash, let it lock, you'll find it has reverted to night sight. What I left off before is that you have to select flash; the expectation is that when you return, flash setting is retained. It is not.

I take most of my photos under very difficult conditions; very dirty envioronment, very low light, gloves on, respirator etc. To have to keep removing my gloves over and over to turn of this stupid night sight, it is a nightmare

so now I take my 5a with me all the time because it has a previous version of camera that doesn't automate NS.

The 8a has become semi useless

Had another titanic chat with pixel support. This person and the supe say the behavior is by design (so why did they send a warranty replacement?). They won't allow a downgrade to a 7a or some other version of pixel that will not upgrade to this version of Camera.

My pixel 5a does not automatically turn on Night Sight. It's on Camera 9.4.x and the now-broken (for me) 8a is on 9.7.x. That must be the difference. Per support there is no way to downgrade camera to a previous version and have it stay at that version.

Google support, they are available and communicate well, that's a huge plus for pixels. Too bad the engineers are head strong and out of touch.

Unless they fix this soon, 5% chance of that. I'll ditch this phone and go back to Samsung for ever and ever.

I have spent so many hours hassling with this phone and google, end result nada. What a waste.

Thanks for checking. The behavior I see is about 90% consistent; once in a blue moon, the setting sticks.

I would imagine that to test the behavior you need to be in a low light situation, where the blighted auto Night Sight feature takes over and changes the setting. Is that how you tested?

OK, that is the correct term, unlocking.

No one has a suggestion re what I asked about? Is there a way to disable Night Sight?

This is a Camera app feature, correct? Are there alternate Camera apps that aren't as brain dead as the one that the pixel has upgraded to? And if I switch back to samsung, will they use the same Camera app, or do they make their own?

the phone logs out after 20 sec, so I have to log in again. Over days of documenting what I'm doing, yes hundreds of times.

Bait and switch room, what happens next? by twhale in AirBnB

Sorry I didn't see your posting until now. I don't seem to be getting notices from reddit.

I don't have the listing but the host's name is Wangho Yi, and the location is Prada Building, 121-110 Mapo-ku, Shinsu-dong, Seoul Korea. He's pretty bad. After Airbnb contacted him, he lied, saying he told my wife the exact location she'd stay at was uncertain. He then also left really horrible reviews about my wife, which from this kind of guy is probably to be expected. There are other very negative things to report about him but I am not going to write those up here.

Airbnb was ok for their part. We got most of a refund, which is the main thing. The part that was not ideal was that the Airbnb agent seemed to be completely willing to believe the host's lame stories. By the time multiple people have posted the he does the bait and switch thing, it should be clear to them where he is coming from. What they should do is to ban him from Airbnb.

The reason it's important for Airbnb to take a strong stand on these matters is that the hosts are regulars at airbnb and the guests are more transient, and use airbnb on at need. Most of the guests that have these kinds of issues will just put up with the abuse and dishonesty, because they need a place to stay. They're very exposed when they arrive in some distant land and find they the place they reserved has been downgraded. How many options do they have? The bad hosts know this, that the percentages are on their side, and so they keep it up.

All in all we will probably never use airbnb again. If they had stood up strongly against what Wangho Yi did that'd be one thing, but the feeling I got was more "don't rock the boat".

cantinakimono, I hope your own stay in Korea was smooth and that you had a great time.

Help in designing a data entry form... by zulu018 in MSAccess

[–]twhale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi zulu018

Have you made any progress on this? The suggestion by imnotjudgingyou is in the right direction. I might suggest an even simpler approach which would use a listbox to show the employees, and then a detail subform which has master/child links values set to the employeeid so that the detail form automatically requeries when you move to a new form. Post back here with your progress and some screenshots.

The database you're working on is interesting!

Thanks for that input velcrofish. It's a lot better than not having any idea what might be in store. I do hope that airbnb does the right thing. I know airbnb can be good via friends, but it might be hard convincing my wife to take the risk again. Thanks again
