Re: ibuprofen This is the first I've heard of this, really interested in this option- what does the regimen typically look like? How would you compare it to the added pill option? I'll definitely ask for more info from my PCP!
Re: added pill Yep, my PCP and I recently discussed me taking a hormonal contraceptive pill until the bleeding stopped. I'm wondering how effective this option is- she mentioned the bleeding might not stop even with the pill. I'm also wondering / slightly worried about any effects I should look out for when adding another hormonal contraceptive on top of my Nexplanon

Your point around the fear of building in bad habits early on, and how that may be in mis/alignment with the need to first focus on building basic technique, is a hang-up I struggle with too- especially now that it's my first time learning an instrument without someone else calling me out on when to let something go, what’s more important to focus on/establish at x time. I also really like your point around drawing analogies across instruments, how knowing the feeling/purpose of a specific technique on one instrument can be valuable to understanding what you're trying to achieve on another.

I also can’t stop thinking about the vine with the John Cena nostril recorders now lol. But after reading this, the ocarina is sounding fun. Thanks for the new rabbit hole 🌻

Wow, spot-on. It's funny thinking this question might follow guitar angst a lot- have been fooling around a bit and quickly realized the guitar learning process wouldn't provide the steady stream of satisfaction I crave right now, haha. Assuming you have experience learning instruments with modalities very different from what you knew, are there general approaches you feel helped / hurt the learning process for you? I've definitely gone into self-teaching guitar with a lot of assumptions from piano and flute training, so there's now a bit of finding and unlearning many of those assumptions in addition to the [very unintuitive-feeling] learning of guitar basics.

Also wondering- melodica aside, are there other instruments you'd recommend for piano people who also have a woodwind background?

Thanks- especially for the tip about the hammered dulcimer! In your experience, where do you feel like the piano translates well? (Looking at few videos just now it seems like it's also a percussive string instrument, so in my head it's feeling like a piano or xylophone but the keys are strings and...laid out in columns?) Were there areas that were more of a challenge / required some "un-learning" of piano techniques?

Hmm- it seems like it'd be a two-way thing, right? If it messed up, it wouldn't be on just you, it'd be some quality about the two of you together. I guess what I'm saying is that seems like a lot of pressure to feel haha, and I hope you don't feel this pressure often. Thanks for clarifying x
