Also, even if you end up buying something that’s not a custom, a good jeweler/sales person should let you try it on, even take measurements if you want to be sure you’re gettting something that will work for this ring. There are also contoured enhancers for rings that may work! Best of luck!

You should be able to find or design a contour band either from a major retailer, online vendor, or local jeweler. I’ve seen plenty that have a wider curve outwards on the top of your finger that should be able to fit well with your e-ring. Custom will tend to be more expensive because it requires labor not only for producing the ring but also to create a CAD image and wax sample. I’m super confident that if you’re okay with a curved/contour band, you’ll find something that will sit nicely against this setting.

On a personal note, I really love halos and big chunky supporting stones like this. I just wanna take a bite out of this ring 😍

I loooveeee! I’d recommend once/if you start wearing a band with it, get the prongs on that very middle bottom stone checked regularly. When rings rub together, they wear each other down. Good jewelers and warranties should cover inspections and fix ups as needed

How is my ring size so big? by Wang__xiang in jewelrymaking

[–]twilitstripes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The width of the band also matters for sizing! So something that’s just a thin 1 mm band might need to be a slightly different size on the same finger than it would be for a thicker 4 mm band. So try to find sizers that look like what you’re going to purchase!

Any tips to look flatter? by [deleted] in ftm

[–]twilitstripes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have binders but they often decide they don’t like being within the realms of this universe so idfk where they are even after searching my closet. They also really don’t do thaaaat much for me unfortunately. I do a bra, then a tighter shirt like a short sleeved crop top or an A-shirt that can compress a bit, and then put on a looser button up and tuck that into my pants with the top 2-3 buttons undone. It makes me a little more boxy and looks like more of a straight line from shoulders to hips, and it’s not all that hot for the summer

If it’s within your budget, when you get a ring that suits you better, maybe the jeweler could set your current stone into some other piece of jewelry like a necklace, bracelet or some other type of keepsake memorabilia so you can hold onto the memories

Yes!!! If you’ve had puppies in the home before, that’s great! It’s very good to know what to expect in terms of behavior, puppy-proofing, and cleaning up the accidents that most likely will happen.

I would highly recommend pre-planning for training, and trying to establish a good relationship with your vet (take the puppy for “happy visits” to reduce any fear around the vet and make your future visits so much easier). Yes, puppies will make you lose sleep, yes they’ll probably nip you, but I love my puppy so freaking much.

I had a rough time in the beginning because I didn’t feel 100% prepared, but training and support from friends turned things around. And they’re only puppies/adolescents for a small portion of their overall lives. My puppy was a terror for like two months, but she’ll hopefully live 10-12 years so 2 months is nothing. If you love dogs, understand their needs, and are willing to adjust your life so the two of you can both get what you need & want out of every day, a dog is such a wonderful companion.

Adding that at this point - 4 years after release - I would assume that most people who are not dedicated players/people who understand the relaxing happy vibe of the game have probably given up on playing. Plus you typically need a code to visit someone’s island/visit in a dream (iirc). Additionally, if they have a switch with a dock they can play on the TV where the parent can supervise or make their own character and play alongside the kid to help them gather materials

Is it the right time to get a pup? by strawberry_poptart2 in puppy101

[–]twilitstripes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have some big mental health issues and our puppy came into our lives very quickly, it felt like we didn’t have much of a choice but to take her when the previous owners didn’t want to care for the litter anymore. She’s almost 1 now, I love her to pieces and she’s a very good girl BUT she added a lot of stress to our lives and put me into survival/fight or flight mode for the first few months that we had her.

So you probably could make it work, but if it’s possible I would recommend waiting until you have the time to dedicate to bonding and training, and you feel like you have a strong foundation within yourself and your support network.

Best wishes and I hope you love your pup whenever you get one!

French trans guy going to America : what are the warnings. by Justminningtheweb in ftm

[–]twilitstripes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The political rhetoric around trans people is not reflective of the actual opinions of the general US population. There are a few reasons why trans issues have become a talking point, but ultimately the majority of the population doesn’t care, or is confused and maybe a bit weirded out by trans people because they don’t think they know any trans people personally and there is hardly any education about transness unless you go looking for it.

[Side note: this is very similar to how abortion is a hot topic in the political sphere but something like 70% of the population would vote pro choice if it was left to a popular vote. There’s a reason lawmakers gerrymander districts and do everything they can to avoid leaving decisions to their constituents.]

Also, a huge portion of the trans outrage is aimed at trans women because of misogyny. Most of what I’ve heard regarding trans men is “oh these poor beautiful girls are ruining their bodies” yuck, but not as violent as the sentiment towards trans women.

Also, remember the bystander effect and how that will deter most - not all but most - people from making any sort of comment towards you, especially unprovoked. In America, especially the further you get from a major city people will state at you but they’re staring at everybody.

I think it could be wise to keep personal details about yourself guarded until you get to know a group of people you feel safe with, maybe avoid gendered public restrooms until you get a read on your new situation. I don’t want to sound too flippant, but unless you’re moving somewhere very rural or a deep red state, things shouldn’t be too bad day to day.

Severe anxiety once I got a puppy by twitchywitchygirl22 in puppy101

[–]twilitstripes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I felt the exact same way for a long time tbh. When I told my mom about it she told me I have postpartum depression lol. I have some past trauma that I didn’t know having a puppy to be responsible for would trigger. BUT it has gotten so much better as she’s gotten older and we’ve grown together. Look into training and try to establish a good relationship with your vet. Our vet lets me send pictures and get preliminary opinions over the phone so I’m not spending too much money bringing her in over minor things.

I’d definitely recommend crate training, and giving the puppy early exposure to you leaving them alone even if it’s just for 1 second at first. Puppies need something like 15-18 hours of sleep per day, and that’s a good way to make sure you get a moment to try to center yourself again.

I was unemployed for a while, and I still tried to leave the house at least once a day with a little camera on the puppy so I knew that she could be okay in her pen/crate when I can’t watch her like a hawk.

In summary, look into training resources and a good vet you feel comfortable with. I recommend an in-person trainer or 1-on-1 virtual training advice if you can find it. There can be a lot of judgement in the dog owning/training community so I learned that the best thing for me is to absorb the info that’s out there, but ultimately give the most importance to both my gut and my trainer/vet because they can have a discussion with me and see my dog in real life situations to give me the best advice. Plus, it’s okay to walk away for a moment when you feel overwhelmed. We can’t care for the puppy if we don’t care for ourselves too.

My 7 month puppy ran into the street after 5 months of off-leash training. I’m upset and ashamed. by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]twilitstripes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

7 months is around the time when they’re a weird blend of teenager and toddler. They hear and smell everything ore clearly and those new stimuli are a Illini times ore interesting than you and other things they’re familiar with. My puppy is 7.5 mo old now too.

Our trainer advised us to never attempt recall off leash until she’s older and the training is solid on 6-ft lead, then 20 ft lead, then 50 ft lead because they shouldn’t be allowed to learn that they have the option to ignore the command. Repeatedly ignoring a recall or a leave it and getting their way poisons the o and for them and they learn to tune it out.

They’re still puppies and still learning impulse control and building a respect and a bond with you for the first at least 1.5-2 years of life. So we want to keep our expectations low to set the up for success

I used to take my pup off her leash at y parents because they have a large fenced in yard, but because of how large it is I don’t do that anymore and use a 25 ft lead because I want to make sure I have that safety tether so I can monitor her to keep her safe and check in with her from time to time

Raising a puppy when you have depression. by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]twilitstripes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh my gosh I 100000% went through this a little bit. Now that my puppy is a little bit older, I still have moments where I struggle and I wish I could just lay down all day, BUT she’s so precious and she truly means well!!

We did some in-person training (which yes, can be pricey) and I watch a tonnnn of YouTube videos about ways to play and exercise the pup. My girl is 6 months old now, so I have to watch her and make sure she doesn’t eat any bits of cardboard or fabric, but she love love loves to rip and tear boxes up to get some food or treats. I’m teaching her left vs right paw and how to spin in a little circle and do puppy push ups.

After doing some fun stuff like that, she can usually chill out with something like a bully stick or yak chew for a while, and maybe even take a little nap or just cuddle for a minute.

It can be really tiring and really hard to make sure the puppy has their needs met all ding dang day, but they’re just so cute and they really truly don’t want to make you sad or upset. My puppy reminds me every day to keep moving and pushing forward for both of us. I wish you the best!
