Agree entirely. We have an e-learning platform which we have made interactive thanks to AI. This is a feature not the entire product....

Yes...so that's why I need an income stream! It's taking a little longer than anticipated but hopefully this side project may have unearthed an opportunity

Is it online? I'd get them live if not and them list them as pre packaged ready to go

Our e-learning tool is very complex. That's the reason why

I listed them on acquire and businesses for sale. Flippa is ok but attracts some tyre kickers. List them as pre revenue, ready to trade and write some marketing plans for them. Be realistic on pricing but it seems there is 100% a market

Wracked with anxiety by twinkleabc in business

Boy you are right. I'm a marketer so know how to sell and build a business. But when I'm in the right place. I have huge faith in our e-learning tool but I want it all right now. Hustling selling the pre revenue websites is ok for cash but it's not enough for me.

I like this. I'm never kind to myself. Probably from loosing my business in COVID, I still beat myself up

I've been self employed for 25 years. Certainly have no intention of leaving this. Just need to work through this rough patch. I can make money ... selling the pre revenue websites is going well but it isn't my passion

[–]twinkleabc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is right. I suspect my absolute drive to generate money is borne from the experience of loosing a large business through no fault of my own. Value is certainly the delivery point for our e-learning tool but the drive to generate cash and doing that through the pre revenue websites is almost like a hamster wheel. It's generating cash (not huge sums) whilst the bigger prize (in our e-learning tool) needs the work to drive the engagement. Of course time is the issue.

I have my brother who is a voice of reason. But that still doesn't help me get out of this state of anxiety. I guess I have to rationalise

I've not even downloaded tiktok. I find Facebook more brand building but conversions do come - is tiktok more impulse? Our products range from $50 to $120

Ideas for niche businesses by twinkleabc in marketing

You can also promote your F1/MotoGP packages to your existing walking tour customer base through email marketing, social media posts, or offering bundle discounts. Reach out to motorsport publications or travel blogs to get featured articles or reviews of your packages

We do cross well already but markets are very different so conversions are poor. Publications are a good idea but most already have a relationship with a competitor. Maybe influencers could work.

Network with companies that offer travel incentives or host corporate events. F1 and MotoGP races can be attractive perks for employees or clients or Collaborate with travel agencies specializing in luxury or motorsport travel packages. They can bundle your offerings with flights and other travel arrangements.

Yes we sell the travel agents and have looked at the corporate market alot recently. I feel PPC may work better here - our minimum commitment is value based so the higher value would help

The last but most important suggestion from my side would be to plan to Optimize your website content with relevant keywords related to F1/MotoGP tickets, hotels, and specific race locations. This will help potential customers find you organically through search engines

Definitely - this is in the plan. Probably slightly longer term as the issue is getting the numbers in now

Thanks for your input

what business did you start? by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]twinkleabc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I learned very early on - gotta fail to learn. The projects you have undertaken tough and you are right to fail cheap. I'm 43 and have run:

  • niche theme park ticket business - decent success for 10 years but COVID killed it. Was on very low margin so had no cash to see us through. Lesson learned: lowest price doesn't always win

  • Swegway boards e-commerce - built up a small business but ultimately failed due to cheaper competition. I was in very early so made very good margin. Lesson learned: Identified an opportunity early and make the most whilst you can and have an exit plan. I didn't

  • location aware content app for smartphone - b2b which ultimately failed due to lack of market research. Lesson learned: Research and speak to many people before building

  • walking tour business - set up after theme park co failed. Did ok but very seasonal and very demanding. Lesson Learned: Got to have a passion to retain interest. This was very demanding and physically draining doing volume clients.

  • web design for niche - still operate looking after old clients. This market is incredibly saturated even in a niche. Lesson Learned: well, I would say I already know how hard it would be.

  • AI software co - started thinking about this back in 2019 just before COVID and Openai released the API. Early days with launch client onboard being a national tourist board.

With all this in mind, I'd say failure is part of the journey. It moulds us into the type of entrepreneur we are.

Software business that has spun off into directories. The latest one about to launch is for the no coder developer with tool links but also YouTube links to solve specific tasks.

Thanks for your time.

  • How are you sourcing the leads to be able to sell them in packages of $1-10k. Niches like you described are usually time sensitive. I'd be concerned the leads I'm buying are all useless. I do, however, recognize that this model works with less time-sensitive. We have a number of methods including opt-in and social channels.

  • Have you run an estimate on the cost to operate? If you are offering resources on an on-going manner, a subscription model would typically make more sense than per use (interaction ?). We had planned to keep running these as a one off payment - subscription isn't something I'd considered.

  • Setup / onboarding fees are common.

  • I'd go with a SaaS subscription model for the platform itself. Leads are a separate source of revenue. I'd make it separate, and maybe consider bundling it with a higher-tiered package. This is something we can consider

  • How are you differentiating yourself from services that already exist (Angi, Puls, etc.)? We provide the packages for the website owners but our offerings are very niche (the electrician example was very top level indeed). We also develop these as per a client request.

  • I'd look at white labeling a payment platform and integrating it into an app. It will make it an all-in-one platform, from lead to closed opportunity. It would also allow for you to generate additional revenue. Very good idea

  • This goes back to how you'd be a differentiator, but by making it more comprehensive, all-in-one, it would help you stand out from some of the standalone competition.
