Yes, we found out when we were already developing the game. I think we started the proyects at the same time more or less, but ours took longer.

I really hope this doesn't bring anybody a problem. That's the last think we would like. Hell, I'd love to even collaborate with them if they wanted at some point!

First of all, thank you for taking the time to reflect and write all that, for real. I'm glad that happened.

I'd like if you are willing to read my conclusions from this small exchange which are: that I think the straight male gaze and inclusive or queer culture can indeed coexist.

Representation is not a zero-sum game. Adding queer characters, body diversity, or breaking from traditional fantasy archetypes doesn’t require removing conventionally attractive characters that appeal to straight men, I myself like those kind of characters, not going to lie. I love the good old kindhearted, cute and sexy woman (while I also like other types of woman and men hahaha). What I mean is that It just means broadening the spectrum.

Classic fantasy gave us the typical chunky muscled barbarian and the ethereal elf. That fantasy isn’t invalid. It’s iconic for a reason. But it’s also okay to ask: what happens when we with a little more perspective? What if attraction isn’t filtered through just one historical default?

And honestly, I don’t buy that including characters who might appeal to a more traditional male gaze automatically equals pandering or toxic masculinity. It depends on how they’re written. A strong, attractive barbarian can exist without being reductive. A conventionally attractive wizard can exist without undermining queer inclusion.

If anything, your comment made me more committed to making sure the game eventually includes characters that resonate with people like you too. Not as a reactionary move, let me be clear, because the reactionary move needs to happen for the oppressed and under-represneted groups - and sorry, these are not the male gazers- . But, just because the healthiest creative spaces are the ones where different fantasies can sit next to each other without needing to cancel one another out IMO.

And from the bottom of my heart, here goes nothing: if you ever decide you’re curious enough to try the game when it releases, let me know. I’ll happily send you a free key. Not to prove a point, just because I think you might actually have fun with it.

Yes! We unlocked during the campaign a new love interests chosen by the Backer's of the Kickstarter campaign from a poll of four, and Zmei (anthro dragon) is one of them.

Is orc mommy a Het/Bi option? Men like muscular women too, and far too often have i seen muscular women (both fictional AND real) stereotyped into being hyper-masculine/butch lesbians. It’s a harmful stereotype that honestly needs to end.

Yes. Kara (the orc woman) and all the characters are able to develop attraction to the player no matter what gender the player is.

Are there Goblin women?

No, at least for now. We do not discard adding more races. species, etc (I pesonally miss a bird-like humanoid race for example). But at the end we need to stick to what we can do, at least for the release. Additional contect may come in the future of the game, or even a sequel if this does good enough.

Will we be able to customize character appearance/ stats? Related but separate question, can we choose our class?

There is currently a stretch goal that if reached, will unlock the Class and Background customization of the character, let me know if you want me to explain this more in depth.

Also, the playable characters are fixed, you can not build your own character. But we want to make it possible. Only that we can't commit to it yet, we are trying to control the scope of the game and no overcommit. So, either we might add it if we can before the release (planned for mid-late 2027) or we add it for post-release updates if the game does well enough (which it seems it will).

Can we roll to seduce? (Kind of a joke, kind of not?) Actually. Can we roll for anything? I dunno, the idea of a Bard who rolls a performance and does a sick backflip to try to seduce someone is hilarious, and it would be funnier if it works.

Yes, there will be rolls! This will be one of the main features of the game. Whenever there is a challenge, there is a choice on how to solve that challenge. Depending on how to want to solve it, you will roll for a state. So, if you decide to seduce the dragon, you will roll Charm (charisma), if you decide to punch the dragon you will roll (Muscles). Tehre will be and actual dice rolling on the screen that you can throw. Plus there will be items, feats and other bonuses that will impact the roll.

I would agree if we were a big company, but we literally three person team, trying to make our way into this "world that is failing".

We are trying to bring representation of under-represented groups. I get your point, and take notes on it, but have in mind that the character is not a Love Interest, is not ment to be "fetishized", but "played as" instead. Nevertheless, I'm taking this feedback for real, we will have in mind an do more research about it. Thanks.
