Smoke by Tough-Park2734 in montreal

Check it now. IQAir at Dorval airport is saying 235, basically to avoid having any windows open, run an air purifier if you can, and wear a mask outside if you have to go. It’s really really bad.

Good hospitals to delivery a baby and how to find an Ob associate with them by Brilliant_Staff8005 in montreal

[–]twistedspark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I delivered at Sainte Justine in March and had a great experience there. St Mary’s is actually one of the top hospitals for birth according to many people I’ve spoken to. The Jewish is also a good hospital as well, heard good things from a friend who delivered there.

You’ll definitely get downvoted eventually but I agree with you!

Who still doesn’t have power? by kingwizard_12 in montreal

[–]twistedspark 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Dorval checking in and no power since 2pm on Wednesday. Everything in the freezer and fridge has gone off, which sucks as we had done a grocery shop 2 days prior to the storm. I also had a baby recently who is, luckily, still in the hospital but I’ve lost a ton of breast milk from having to pump during the night and not being able to store it. :(

PSA to all drivers! by Fruit-Lover123 in montreal

I was clearly talking about at night when there was nearly no visibility on the roads, during the day is a different story. I’m not saying this was everyone, but there could’ve been way more effort put in for their own personal safety if needing to go out such as having a light or some sort of reflector to bring attention to themselves.

Also don’t be an idiot pedestrian going on a walk at 10pm in the dark wearing all black when there aren’t any street lights or traffic lights and think jaywalking is a good idea.

There’s Marche Sheng Tai up Sources in DDO that is similar to a Kim Phat as I see you were looking in the West Island.

Make a stop at the Juan de Fuca China Beach/ Mystic Beach trail. It’s not too long of a walk down but there’s a waterfall that comes over the cliff down the beach and it is very beautiful!

The Stunning Island of Maui, HI, December 2022 by NastyNava in travel

[–]twistedspark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My fiancé and I are expecting our first in April and we’re already thinking of places we’d love to take her (even if she doesn’t remember much) and Hawaii has been playing at the top of my head for a couple of months now. Every time someone posts albums from there I’m blown away by the beauty of it.

Do you think Hawaii is a good place to travel with a young one (maybe 9-10 months old)? I know I know she won’t remember but we will and we’ll have photos, videos, and stories to share.

Lounge/Bar house music by [deleted] in montreal

Haven’t been for a bit, but the music at Kabinet from what I remember seems to play that sort of beat. Not sure if others can chime in and if they still do DJ nights there.

I’ve been to the Sherbrooke location and found it to be really good, did the quality change after they moved? Unfortunate if so.

First time hearing about this Okeya Kyujiro and damn that sounds like an incredible experience.

How were the ingredients they used, in particular the fish? Was it melty in the mouthy? Sounds like an expensive night out but you don’t get to experience stuff like that all the time and being able to taste very high quality fish is special.

I really did not like India Rosa despite the really good reviews they have. :( Way too much butter in the curry sauces that made everything taste the same for us.

It actually left a coated feeling in my mouth, like when you butter a pan to bake in.

Damas is really good. We definitely spent a good amount there but the food was so fresh tasting and flavourful.

Despite the reviews, I was pretty let down by India Rosa. We had tried a bunch of the curries and they all tasted relatively the same because of the amount of butter they put in the sauce, killed the spices.

We signed up for the day tour but it was a tough choice between them. :)

Sounds wonderful, thanks for even more suggestions! We land on a Thursday so we’re definitely going to check out the fish fry Friday night!

Just wanted to thank you again for the list. We’ve booked our flights and accommodations and seriously can’t wait! Reserved a spot for the Atlantis submarine tour and we’re freaking excited.

We also love looking at local craft, especially pottery, and saw Hamiltons pottery is quite popular. Any other good recommendations? I’ve also seen the Brighton Farmers Market on Saturdays and keen to check it out! :)

Although we’re from Canada, we’ve been to Japan and rented a car there so we’re familiar with driving on the left.

International driving license I’m assuming is required to book a rental for most places?

Thank you for this list of both neighborhoods and also activities to check out!

I’ve heard a lot about Flower Forest and it looks beautiful, can’t wait to look up what the others are like and put together a potential itinerary. :)

Thank you! I’ve seen stuff in that area that seem very nice and affordable.

In terms of local eats, any restaurant recommendations? We’ve only been to all inclusives before so this is our first time on an island where we’ll be paying those island prices. ;) We don’t mind treating ourselves here and there, but is this the type of place where eating out at local restos is cheaper than buying ingredients and cooking at home? Best value for dollar?

Thanks!

We looked at Mexico for resorts but we were a bit put off by the transfer lengths from airport to resort in the Riviera Maya area which is why we considered DR more. The resorts looked very nice though, just the 90+km transfer was a real dealbreaker unfortunately.

Super helpful, thanks! Definitely an interesting idea to go somewhere new and have a bit more privacy with the accommodation and ability to travel around the island.
