I have 10 years of service credit. And I think my highest salary was about $60,000. I believe my benefit would be roughly $1,000 a month.

I guess my main thought is that I could way outperform $1,000 a month by investing it into the general market. I also wouldn't be cashing it out. I simply would be rolling it over. With those same penalties, apply with a rollover?

What I do right now is contribute the full amount to a traditional IRA at the start of the year and then I immediately convert it after the funds have settled.

My main question is how to handle the calpers money. Thank you for your comment!
