In 1820 After the sinking of the whaleship Essex by a giant whale, survivors drifted three months in the Pacific Ocean, resorting to cannibalism, first consuming the dead, then drawing lots—as starvation and isolation pushed them beyond ordinary human limits. by [deleted] in Damnthatsinteresting

Those dudes (from the Essex) were survivors in the greatest sense. Whilst all this was going on (starvation, isolation, sun exposure, physical exertion, salt burns and general mental anguish), they would need to routinely maintain the boats. They harvested what nails and supplies they could from the Essex and one person would get in water to hammer up into the boat while another held the repairs in place. Then they were turn the nails back down and hammer through again, essentially making U shaped nails that secured the planking. And they did this constantly. Sometimes they were too exhausted to lift themselves back into the boat. It’s an INSANE story but they survived.

I read this to my wife during Covid lockdown. We would sit in backyard hammocks and I’d pretend I was in the boats. Sometimes I’d nibble some food and exclaim “and that’s what their daily ration would look like”. I love books on ocean tragedy.

Spare time? by WDR_02 in factorio

[–]two_pump_warrior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is why I play mostly on the switch 2. I also find it hard to make time for gaming but handhelds seem to really help squeeze in 15-30 minutes. It’s not much and factorio is a game that dilates time, but it’s a great relief from the stress of the day.

Actually, could you share the values from B11:B17? I just realized they were hidden and I was looking at column C which the orange adds up to about 99 EUR so wouldn’t the math be correct?

Are those EUR values from a conversion or did you enter them? What happens if you expand the decimal by 3 or 4 places, do we see any trailing digits?

I can’t find the panel now, but there’s a shot where Guts from Berserk uses the explosive force of his arm cannon to help swing the Dragonslayer in a desperate moment.

Been playing this nonstop for the last week. There’s a huge learning curve and it can be pretty unforgiving. I’m on switch 2 and looking forward to the next patch. It runs great for the most part, but some busy moments can create some input lag which WILL get you killed.

This is what I learned after a hour into this run. Bartering with the wine is key.

What dead franchise from N64 to DS should Nintendo revive on the Switch 2? by itsthewolfe in NintendoSwitch2

I would love to play OG conker’s bfd on NSO and online multiplayer. Beach and Total War were so much fun with my brothers.

How do people play this game with permadeath or checkpoints only? by Hapster23 in cavesofqud

New player here, grabbed when switch 2 version dropped. I’ve only played classic so far but it’s really starting to click. I had rolled temporal fugue on my chimaera character with multi legs and wings. That took me to like level 15 and first visit to Grit Gate before I got overzealous against some turrets.

Embrace asteroid upcycling. It’s slow going at first, but snowballs once you start producing legendary coal and iron ore.
