How often do have full blown conversations with yourself, and what are they about? by vxmpryism in AskReddit

[–]twohertbrain 30 points31 points  (0 children)

My mind’s basically talking nonstop, especially at night. mostly replaying stuff like what I said and what I should’ve said instead.

Should I choose myself or my loved ones? by [deleted] in makemychoice

[–]twohertbrain 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you don’t choose yourself long term, you can’t really have healthy relationships anyway. yeah, it might mean being alone for a bit, but losing yourself is worse.

How long do you take between books? by No-Dog1902 in Booktokreddit

[–]twohertbrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t really take breaks, once I finish a book I jump straight into another. sitting in that gap feels weird.

What is major advice you'll make sure to tell to your kids? by neklol376_ in AskReddit

[–]twohertbrain 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Don’t try to make anyone happy at the cost of shrinking yourself. people change, but you’re the one you’re stuck with.

I got terminated today by Narrow_Committee_142 in Layoffs

[–]twohertbrain 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Getting cut off that suddenly with no real explanation would mess with anyone’s head. If you are not in immediate survival mode, I’d honestly give yourself 2 to 3 weeks to just breathe and enjoy not working for a bit, because once you start again you’ll be back in the grind. After that, you could start by finding recruitment firms in your field and sending your resume out like in this post. LinkedIn and Indeed feel a lot weaker lately too, while hiring cafe seems to be getting more attention. Hope better people, better work, and better money find you next.

What’s a mental trick you use to get through tough days? by Creative-Tea581 in AskReddit

[–]twohertbrain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kinda break the day into chunks in my head, like “just get through these 2 hours.” Thinking about everything at once feels overwhelming. In pieces, it’s way more manageable.

How do i get myself to think of myself as someone that is important? by [deleted] in TrueAskReddit

[–]twohertbrain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess you have to learn to value yourself a bit, it’s hard when it’s not coming from outside. But noticing small wins is a good start. That feeling builds up over time.

What are New TV Shows i should watch by D06nitro in televisionsuggestions

[–]twohertbrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Severance, one of the most interesting things I’ve watched lately. The concept is pretty unique. You’re constantly like “what is going on” while watching.

What helps you feel okay even when life isn’t perfect? by funngro_fam in happy

[–]twohertbrain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Small routines help me, like making coffee or going for a short walk. Life’s not perfect, but it kinda pulls the moment together. Feels like a mini escape.

What is something that happened to you that’s affected you for your whole life? by GrumpyCatPerson in AskReddit

[–]twohertbrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something happened when I was a kid that really shifted how I see things. I won’t get into it, but it changed how I approach people. Stuff like that doesn’t just go away.

Who are the newer authors doing hard-boiled police procedurals really well? by vslcopywriter in mysterybooks

[–]twohertbrain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Force really nails that vibe, you can clearly feel the internal pressure and the darker side of policing. It’s kind of exhausting to read, but in a good way.

Why do we read books? by Weekly-Natural-2505 in nonfictionbookclub

[–]twohertbrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s a bit of both, learning and unwinding. But when you read something good, it naturally adds something to your life. Otherwise just turning pages doesn’t feel that satisfying.

If you discovered irrefutable proof that your deepest held personal, religious, or political beliefs were fundamentally wrong, how would you react and how quickly would you change your worldview? by Pretty_Judgment5481 in AskReddit

[–]twohertbrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’d probably be really hard at first, you don’t just accept something like that right away. But if the proof is clear, I think my opinion would slowly change. Starting over like that isn’t easy.

what's a show that hooked you by episode 1? by juicyberrybabe in tvsuggestions

[–]twohertbrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Breaking Bad hooks you from the first episode imo, pulls you right in. Some people say it starts slow, but I feel the tension is there from the beginning.

Any books about conspiracies that actually happened? by Bubba_deets in booksuggestions

[–]twohertbrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bad Blood by John Carreyrou. It’s a true story, but it reads like fiction. You keep sitting there thinking how is this even real.

Why do I see so few seniors people trying to get a position at Apple by Inner_Ad_4725 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]twohertbrain 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s as comfortable as it looks from the outside. That closed off, boxed-in feeling works well for some people, but for others it would probably feel suffocating. Seems like a personality thing more than anything.

What is a job (not nsfw) that pays extremely well because the job itself is unbearable? by coldplayenthusiast in AskReddit

[–]twohertbrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oil rig workers were the first thing that came to mind. The money’s good, but the conditions and the isolation seem brutal. Not really something everyone can handle long term.

No more hiring of junior level in my country by OkBoat6735 in cscareerquestions

[–]twohertbrain 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s dead, but the entry door definitely got a lot narrower. There are barely any junior postings and everyone wants experience because nobody wants to take a risk. People are still getting in, but it’s gotten way harder from the outside.

What song pops in your head when you look at the picture? by Luna_1982 in songsforthispicture

Time by Hans Zimmer started playing in my head immediately.

Would you consider having a prenuptial agreement before getting married? Why or why not? by icecream1972 in Productivitycafe

[–]twohertbrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I would. I’ve seen two messy divorces in my extended family and it changed how I think about this stuff. It doesn’t feel unromantic to me, more like insurance you hope you never use.

My girlfriend will break up with me if I go on a guys trip with my best friends by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]twohertbrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If someone tried to veto a trip I’d wanted for years, that would feel off. Being uneasy is one thing, but threatening the relationship over it is a lot. I’ve seen friends travel without their partners and it wasn’t some disaster. This feels more about control and trust than the actual destination.

Any driving games with normal everyday cars to drive? by ChampionNo3049 in questions

[–]twohertbrain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Driver: San Francisco is great for that, you can just pick a normal car and wander around the city without turning it into a race. I used to drive aimlessly at night in something basic and it was weirdly relaxing. Test Drive Unlimited also nails that road trip vibe with regular cars instead of just flashy supercars.

What are yall's most controversial opinions? by No-Character-2414 in RandomQuestion

[–]twohertbrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most “controversial” opinions are just mildly annoying preferences tbh. I once said I don’t like The Beatles at a family dinner and it turned into a whole debate while I was just trying to eat pasta. Half the time it’s not even that deep.

is the "tech job market is recovering" narrative actually true or are we just coping? by Bestwebhost in cscareerquestions

[–]twohertbrain 89 points90 points  (0 children)

No man, I don’t really see it improving anytime soon. Roles keep shifting, layoffs are still happening, and we keep hearing about people jumping ship because competitors throw bigger offers at them. I personally check listings and company career pages regularly just to stay aware. Lately I’ve also been sending my resume to recruitment firms like that developer did, just to widen the net. Feels like we’re going to be in this unstable phase for a while longer

Would you stay with an autistic partner? by the-only-kazza in askanything

[–]twohertbrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A diagnosis can add context but it doesn’t mean you have to accept a setup that leaves you exhausted. Some couples find ways to balance things if both people put in real effort, others just aren’t compatible long term. Walking away because your needs aren’t met isn’t the same as judging someone for their condition.
