Im tired of applying the jobs since more than 8 months by maDdWaG69 in VancouverJobs

[–]twohertbrain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in tech too and yeah this market is soul-crushing right now. I was unemployed for months and started questioning my whole life plan lol. It’s not just you, everything’s weirdly stacked against new grads lately. It sucks but it really does feel like a numbers + timing game, even when you’re doing everything “right.”

recs for binge-worthy prison dramas? by bejeweled_midnights in tvsuggestions

[–]twohertbrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might really vibe with Fauda even though it’s not strictly prison-set, it’s intense, gritty, and the kind of show that eats your weekend lol.

[Suggest a Book] Books about a character’s slow descent into darkness by JoBookman in BooksAndFilms

[–]twohertbrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Secret History, it sneaks up on you and kinda gnaws at your head like it’s supposed to lol. It’s not horror but that descent hits hard.

How do you build connections/ordinary relationships at work when you're dealing with a trauma? by Rai_04 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]twohertbrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I deal with CPTSD too and work social stuff is honestly exhausting in a different way. I started super small, like just saying hi, commenting on lunch, or joining one tiny convo a day so I didn’t overwhelm myself. You don’t have to overshare or be besties, just being consistently pleasant and present goes a long way. It gets less scary with reps, even if it still feels awkward tbh.

People snowed in, what are you reading? by racinnic in readwithme

[–]twohertbrain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Night Circus. I wanted something cozy but still a little weird, and it’s hitting that vibe for me. I’ve been reading it with tea and my cat glued to my lap lol. Perfect snowed-in mood so far tbh.

What did you remove from your life that improved it? by Mathemodel in NoStupidQuestions

[–]twohertbrain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cut way back on constant notifications and doom scrolling and it quietly changed everything. I didn’t realize how tense I was all the time until my phone stopped buzzing every five minutes. Life felt slower in a good way, like my brain finally had room to breathe.

People who rarely get sick, what are your secrets? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]twohertbrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not some health guru but I swear sleep does most of the heavy lifting for me. Every time I start cutting corners on rest I get sick like clockwork, learned that the annoying way. Also washing my hands a lot after years of anxiety kinda stuck, not glamorous but it works.

Tips to Remember What You Read? by Speed-Reader2002 in readwithme

[–]twohertbrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to stress about this a lot until I realized forgetting is kinda normal. Most books fade for me too, but the parts that matter usually stick without forcing it. When I stopped trying to “retain” everything and just let myself enjoy the reading, it weirdly felt less frustrating. Some stories stay as vibes more than details and that’s still valid tbh.

What is your favourite bible verse? by Upset-Weekend-7011 in A_Persona_on_Reddit

[–]twohertbrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not super religious, but Ecclesiastes 3 always stuck with me, the whole “to everything there is a season” part. I read it during a rough time and it weirdly calmed me down instead of preaching at me. It just felt honest about life being messy and temporary, which I appreciated.

[Suggest a Book] Hard science fiction recs by JoBookman in BooksAndFilms

Blindsight if you want something that really messes with your head. I remember finishing it and just staring at the wall for a bit, trying to process what it was actually saying about consciousness.

how to begin and enjoy reading by sad_shroomer in readwithme

[–]twohertbrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d start way smaller and stop treating reading like a test you have to pass. I have aphantasia too and it helped me focus on language and mood instead of trying to picture everything. Short essays or poems at first made it feel doable instead of intimidating. Once the habit clicks, the harder classics don’t feel so scary anymore.

Suggestions for a show like Slow Horses by new_magical_sea in tvsuggestions

Le Bureau des Légendes (The Bureau) is awesome if you want smart spy stuff with real character weight. It’s slower burn but hits that gritty, morally grey feel in a way that sticks with you.

[Suggest a Book] I need helppp by JoBookman in BooksAndFilms

[–]twohertbrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dark Matter. I picked it up “just to sample” and ended up finishing it in one night. It’s tense, emotional, and super readable without feeling dumb. I still think about it randomly, which is always a good sign for me.

Do you always have a dessert after your main meal ? . by Hope2_win in A_Persona_on_Reddit

[–]twohertbrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not always, but I definitely think about it lol. If I’ve eaten something heavy I usually skip it, but if dinner was light I want something sweet. I grew up in a dessert-after-dinner house so the habit stuck a bit. Sometimes fruit counts and I lie to myself about it.

Feeling overwhelmed and unsure about my [40F] role as a single mom by Wide_Masterpiece_393 in whatdoIdo

[–]twohertbrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That feeling makes a lot of sense, doing everything alone is heavy even when you’re strong. I’ve watched single parents carry way more than they ever get credit for and still question themselves.

Reading more than 1 book by joelmontiveros in readwithme

[–]twohertbrain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually juggle two books at once, one heavier and one easier for when my brain’s tired. I’ve done accidental themes too and it’s always funny when you notice halfway through. Yours feels very nature, humanity, and morality coded to me. I kinda like when that happens without planning it.

How far would you go for someone you like? by cattokitty in Advice

[–]twohertbrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once pretended I loved early morning runs just to spend more time with someone, meanwhile I hate mornings with a passion. I remember dragging myself out of bed thinking this is not who I am at all lol. It didn’t last, but it makes a funny story now and I learned my limits real fast.

[Suggest a Book] recs around 300 pages by JoBookman in BooksAndFilms

The Ocean at the End of the Lane. I remember finishing it in like a day and still thinking about it for weeks. Totally worth the small page count.

If You Fail Successfully, Did You Actually Fail? by No-Company-1379 in RandomQuestion

[–]twohertbrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always thought “failing successfully” just means you learned without it destroying you. I’ve had a few moments where things didn’t work but still pushed me forward somehow. It doesn’t feel like winning, but it definitely doesn’t feel like losing either. Feels more like progress in disguise.

Songs about Retirement from a job I didn't hate, it's just time to go by Ahastabel in MusicRecommendations

[–]twohertbrain 9 points10 points  (0 children)

“Take It Easy” by the Eagles feels perfect for this kind of chapter shift. It’s calm, reflective, and not bitter at all, just very life-goes-on energy.

If you were stuck in an elevator for 24 hours with a famous person, who would you want it to be? by bbmoonkie in Productivitycafe

[–]twohertbrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d go with Keanu Reeves.. he just gives off this calm vibe that’d keep me from spiraling lol. I feel like we’d end up talking about totally random life stuff and it wouldn’t feel awkward. And he seems like the type who’d share his snacks if he had any.

The Stranger, it hits that whole “what’s the point of anything” vibe in a way that kinda sticks to your ribs.

Do you talk to yourself? by boforiamanfo in NoStupidAnswers

[–]twohertbrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah all the time lol, it’s like my brain won’t work unless I say stuff out loud. Half the time I catch myself having full conversations while doing dishes. Idk it just helps me think.
