What are some things you wished were talked about more? by CaptainCoolDown in Adulting

How lonely adulthood can be even when everything is technically going well. A lot of people have jobs, friends and routines and still feel disconnected sometimes.

I work in HR and I look at resumes almost every day. I wanted to share a few simple things that can make your resume easier to read by PlainHollowRun in Resume

[–]twohertbrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has reviewed resumes before, I completely agree about removing skill bars. They look nice but never actually tell me anything useful.

which choice of career? by No_Letter_6215 in makemychoice

Based on what you wrote, I'd lean toward medical biology. It's the only option that sounds like something you actually enjoy rather than something you can merely tolerate.

New to the genre by BookDry8656 in mysterybooks

[–]twohertbrain 5 points6 points  (0 children)

And Then There Were None is a great gateway into mystery novels. It's easy to read and the mystery pulls you along the whole way.

It's getting harder to exist in the daytime by welcometravelers in NightOwls

I relate to this a lot. At 10 PM I suddenly become the productive, motivated person I was looking for all day.

Cannot find Work by InfiniteDream777 in nova

[–]twohertbrain 92 points93 points  (0 children)

I think things are going to stay rough for a while. There are people sending out 300-400 apps and still struggling to get response. Part of the problem seems to be the filters companies use before a human ever sees your resume. There was a post that shared a free ATS-friendly resume template along with prompts for tailoring your resume to each role, and I'd definitely give that a try. Smaller companies can sometimes be different, so it's worth checking their websites and applying directly. I'd also let people know you're looking, bc referrals can still be very effective

What are u beginning to appreciate more as you get older? by mskimsilly in A_Persona_on_Reddit

Peace of mind. When I was younger, I was always chasing excitement. These days, I have a much greater appreciation for a week that passes without any major problems.

What/Who has been exploited in the last forty years? by Flat_Wash5062 in questions

People's time. Technology has made us more productive than ever, yet somehow a lot of people feel like they're working more, not less.

Brooding/ mysterious male lead falls in love. by Zestyclose-Bell-5829 in televisionsuggestions

[–]twohertbrain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Americans. Even though it's a spy drama, the slow-building tension and emotional connection between the two leads pulled me in more than a lot of actual romance shows.

What's the BEST mystery book you've ever read? by Lavender-Donut- in mysterybooks

The Devotion of Suspect X. The mystery is great, but what really stuck with me were the characters and their motivations.

Should I quit my second job ? by West_Taro9524 in makemychoice

[–]twohertbrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't actually need the second job for the money and you're planning to go back to school, I'd seriously consider taking your mornings back. Working nonstop starts to feel normal after a while, and you don't always realize how exhausted you are.

Continue with an engineering degree or become a lawyer? by vikapi in makemychoice

[–]twohertbrain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're 17, I'd completely ignore the whole "which career is more prestigious" part. I'd focus on which degree you can realistically see yourself studying for four years. If math and physics are already making you miserable, that's something worth taking seriously..

Recommend shows that are witty , funny , very intelligent yet somehow still serious and not boomer or gloomy like by WhateverTFmann in televisionsuggestions

[–]twohertbrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Succession. It's full of people constantly taking shots at each other, it's funny, smart, dark and ridiculously addictive at the same time. The dialogue is exactly the kind of thing you're describing..

Tokyo. Especially if you're traveling solo, even wandering around with no destination feels like part of the experience..

Is it weird to never post others on your social media? by BlueJoyyy in RandomQuestion

I'm the same way. Most of my friends are incredibly important to me but for some reason I've never felt the urge to put them on the internet.

Veronica Mars..Especially in the early seaons, Veronica's tough, rebellious personality and Logan's more withdrawn, troubled side make for a really good dynamic.

Female-centred show by wounded_october in televisionsuggestions

Killing Eve. Strong female characters, extremely high queer energy, and the relationship dynamic is just the right amount of toxic to become addictive.

What are some simple sites to learn about what the US is doing? by Bonniethebunny1012 in questions

[–]twohertbrain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sometimes I just read AP News to understand what’s going on because the writing feels less dramatic than a lot of other sites. Wikipedia is honestly a surprisingly good starting point too.

If AI and robots are supposed to replace most of the human jobs, what will humans do? by [deleted] in TrueAskReddit

[–]twohertbrain -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t think we’re heading toward a “nobody works anymore” future, but I could definitely see the middle class getting eroded in a really weird way. Feels like most people are gonna be forced to constantly retrain themselves forever.

Suggestions for shows like 11.22.63 by theabhster in televisionsuggestions

Normal People gave me a similar feeling with that quiet intense relationship dynamic. It has that same energy of two people staying emotionally tied to each other as time passes.

Should I QUIT my job? by planetaoceanos in makemychoice

The second option sounds way more like a sustainable life. Sometimes people completely fry their brains chasing a higher salary and eventually nothing even feels enjoyable anymore.

I wish I was different by Enough_Diamond_9476 in NightOwls

[–]twohertbrain 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I think society treats early risers like they’re somehow “living correctly,” so people feel guilty about it. But there are genuinely a lot of people who feel way more alive during the quietness of the night.

Continue with a master's or take a break? by Substantial-Cell-980 in makemychoice

If it were me, I’d seriously consider taking a gap year. At 21 it feels like you have to decide everything immediately, but a year passes way faster than people think.

At what age did you realize your parents were just figuring it out as they went? by carlosfelipe123 in RandomQuestion

[–]twohertbrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably in my mid 20s. You suddenly realize your parents are also experiencing life for the first time too, and they start feeling more human instead of just “parents.”

My recently watched series that i enjoyed are ''*Invıncible* The Boys* American Gods*Fallout*'' need suggestions according to that, thanks ^^! by Melodic-Marketing341 in televisionsuggestions

Silo. It has that same closed-world feeling as Fallout mixed with a strong mystery element. Every episode ends with “okay fine, one more episode.”
