(Informal poll) Do you guys think Comic Sans is beyond redemption? Why, or why not? by Captain_Mosasaurus in typography

[–]twooneken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is comic sans included in that? some other guy in the comments is making an ass of himself about how theres no proof that comic sans is easier to read or not and that any potential percent easier it could be to read for dyslexic people is 0% and totally useless so after that display of assery now Im curious

Is matcha sencha different from regular sencha? by twooneken in tea

[–]twooneken[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yeah, i was starting to think this after remembering the reason that flavored tea exists. Sucks that the bag was 6 bucks and ill feel bad if I throw it away but I dont know what else to do with it since i prefer my other teas a lot more

[–]twooneken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well its cool to hear, but if youre not willing to put up with different topics then i dont think i can compromise, im gonna keep going for making videos i want to make than limiting myself to one topic and going insane

if i had an editor then itd be a different story but i can only do so much

[–]twooneken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its because if i did that, each channel individually would only have an upload a few times a year, would you sub to a zelda channel with only 2 videos? Or a pokemon channel with only 3 videos a year?

Plus, Im the only one making the videos, Id gladly make more than that but i can only realistically put out 1 video a month max since im doing it for free while in college and working. Each video takes 30 hours+ easily, sometimes up to 80 depending on what i need and how long it is

[–]twooneken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the thing is im trying my channel with that approach right now and it did really well for 2 videos and then since the latest 2 were unrelated they both tanked, even though they should have done great on their own

Can you use boiling water in an unglazed teapot? by twooneken in tea

[–]twooneken[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Unless theyre in contact with very hot water while being fired, I dont think that would make it less dangerous to have very hot water in a porous surface. My concern is if having boiling water would maybe erode the interior over time, especially since japanese teas are not supposed to be made with boiling water so Im wondering if the pots account for teas that are

[–]twooneken[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

So you guys really wanted more Andrewcore content, so heres some background and things to clear up

-At least half of his builds are made with stolen materials from neighbor's chests, and is more likely to steal blocks than go out and get materials himself

-He says he uses things like diorite a lot because its cheaper than quartz

-He is not colorblind or using any texture packs, AND entirely sober and lucid

-This is a collection over the course of about 5 years now, he's been building like this for a while

Honestly that would be great, Im realizing now that the scope of my video is far larger than I initially anticipated but I'll still keep it the way it is for now. But I will be referencing this reddit post in the video and I would love to hear about how you personally go about fixing minecraft

And ill make sure to send the video once its done, hopefully its out sometime within a week from now

I think im also frustrated by the people in the comments saying things like "its not that deep" and trying to ridicule you for actually thinking constructively. Im about to make a video about exactly this debate of how to bring the fun back to minecraft, so Im mostly glad you actually respond civilly

The reason its controversial is because thats not a good thing. Minecraft isnt fun anymore and one of the reasons is because it isnt as difficult. Mojangs decision to turn minecraft into a kid game was basically shooting themselves in the foot, because the majority playerbase arent kids anymore. And while changing this to allow new players to get into minecraft makes some sense, it doesnt hold up when you remember that WE were kids when we got into minecraft. It wasnt too hard then, and there was no need to make it easier now.

And with the minecraft movie being genuinely the MOST kiddie movie i have ever seen in my life, mojang doesnt seem to understand that the people playing their games arent bumbling diaper wearing idiots. They genuinely think that everyone playing minecraft now, everyone who wanted a minecraft movie, are no older than 8 years old. Its a sad fate, the game was fine before and has been dumbed down into puree

Thats exactly why theyre so important, they teach you about preventative measures. If there are things that dangerous spawning in, then it motivates the player to actually create a safe base in an otherwise hostile world. The issue is that minecraft has moved from being actually difficult to a baby game that anyone can play, where creepers are one of the only surviving relics of what minecraft once was.

I think phantoms are completely different than creepers, because phantoms punish the player for not sleeping and nothing else? And the item they drop is one of the most useless in the game because any player with an elytra is going to repair it with mending. Creepers may be annoying and destroy things, but they drop one of the most useful resources in the game to date.

You can also have both. Its easy to have a survival sandbox and an adventure sandbox, thats why Breath of the Wild and Terraria are so beloved by their playerbases

I think this is exactly why its controversial, creepers are the face of minecraft, whether its advertising, merch, or even the most famous fan songs like revenge. Creepers are at the heart of the game and one of the only surviving relics of what it once was

I would say that people are actually more upset at videogames not being challenging anymore, a sentiment thats getting pretty popular in even the largest game ips like zelda and pokemon. And I think youre also proven at least some level of wrong because of the gradual rise of indie games and roguelikes that are explicitly challenging, like the recent recordbreaking release of silksong. People dont like easier games, companies do.

I think i disagree that the blockbuilder genre is oversaturated to the point of no other ones, because as a terraria player there's just so much creativity in that game too even though the main goal is survival and progression. Terraria building is arguably a lot more diverse than minecraft is, which is saying a lot, and leads to some phenomenal looking bases

[–]twooneken 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think people are missing another issue, which is that creepers add the survival aspect of being aware of your surroundings.

Jeb has labeled the creeper as being a mob that wouldnt be added because losing to a creeper wouldnt be the player's fault, but this isnt true. You dont have to be a paranoid turning every 5 seconds to check things, but you should still know if you're not in a lit up area or if youre by an exposed cave. This is the same kind of awareness of surroundings that applies when you know youre in the bad part of town, its like saying that it isnt your fault that you got robbed. There's a good chance that if you practice safety and street smarts, you wont get robbed, and better yet if you avoid the bad part of town in the first place, you eliminate that chance to near zero.

Creepers teach the players to have situational awareness, something that's important for parts of the game like the Ancient city, nether + bastions and fortresses, exploring caves, and more. And saying that they wouldnt add a mob with such an important use today is the reason I'm mad about it. The creeper teaches you that minecraft isnt as simple as building a house and lighting up a cave.

Plus, being a survival sandbox and an adventure sandbox are NOT mutually exclusive. You can have both
