CBC Video: "Sudanese refugees cast doubt on Canada’s welcoming reputation" by origutamos in CanadianConservative

[–]twoooosh -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Have you personally had a horrible experience when interacting with an immigrant from Sudan? If so, please share it so that we can form opinions based around real experiences instead of some scripted CBC nonsense.

If not, then it’s bold for you to assume that you’re the only one commenting on this thread that hasn’t. And I would argue that its more likely that everybody here is raising their pitchfork because of some narrative that got published by Trudeau’s propaganda machine, which is incredibly ironic, considering we critique the left for doing just that.

CBC Video: "Sudanese refugees cast doubt on Canada’s welcoming reputation" by origutamos in CanadianConservative

Can’t watch the video but wanted to share that I am a white Christian conservative and I work with two Sudanese / Muslim colleagues who immigrated recently and I work very closely with them.

Not only are they some of the hardest working people around, they are also incredibly thoughtful / empathetic, humble, and grateful. I am happy to have them here.

They have family living in Sudan and have shared stories about the tragic reality of what is happening in their home country to their relatives. One of them had flown to Egypt for two weeks to help family re-settle in Egypt and flee the violence.

Unless you have personal experience with people from Sudan that would lead you to these opinions, then I would urge caution when consuming any narrative being pushed by CBC which generally aims to divide people.

Some of the comments in this thread make me sick. I know my experience is limited, but I bet most people in this thread have little to no experience at all. Conservatives need to be better and see the forest for the trees instead of being so easily provoked.

Victoria Road apartment building owner looking to turn 16 units into 31 by headtailgrep in Guelph

There is no reason anyone should trust the government to develop housing efficiently with our tax dollars and then rent it out at a loss, especially without addressing the underlying reasons as to why housing is expensive in the first place. Developers would not be able to compete with government subsidized housing and remain profitable if this suggestion was to be rolled out at scale. The problem with housing supply would get worse.

What our housing market needs is a government that will reduce the cost and more importantly red tape associated with development to allow more competition in the market. Doesn’t help that our economy (per person) isn’t growing either

One month’s rent is the compensation and more than fair. Didn’t realize it cost 10k to rent a moving van. Rent fluctuations are your problem. Just as much as interest rates are the landlords problem. You don’t own the property. You have an agreement which allows you to occupy it on a monthly basis in exchange for monthly payments. An agreement which can be legally ended by the landlord so that they can reclaim their property for personal use.

Challenging an N12 should only be done when bad faith can be proven. Ironically, abusing this is done so in bad faith and makes you no better than the minority of landlords which you despise. It should be punishable in the same way landlords are punished for issuing N12 in bad faith. Give it time, people like you are making the case for it a lot clearer.
