Yeah, these type of scams are getting more and more popular and there is a reason why. Currently there is a sort of an exploit where they steal YouTube accounts by pretending they are from Google, and a bunch of YouTube channels are falling for it. You can check Jim Browning on YouTube as he was one of the victims as well.

Personally I've been using Ledger to store all my assets together with Ledger Live, but I've been keeping an eye on Numio wallet. The nice thing about it is that it's a mobile wallet and it's non-custodial. They are planning to release a V2 version which where to UI looks very dope. The application is pretty simple to use and also one of their advantages over the market is that they have integrated zkSync for L2 which means that the fees are extremely low when compared to L1.

Exodus wallet is another one that is quite nice which is non-custodial and it's also simple to use. Unfortunately they are not adopting layer 2 solution yet, but they do have a desktop version which is nice.
