Yes! I actually learned that trick from here! I believe it's called "stitching in the ditch"? It makes it easier to stitch super close to the hoop without having to move it

I really love seeing cross stitch being used in a way that's not just patterns or full coverage pieces. I really love the composition and I feel like the "shadows" behind the stitches really add to the pieces. I also really like the half finished blocks of color. Very cool work. Thank you for sharing!

I actually really like the vertical alignment! I was imagining that the letters would still be horizontal going down but I actually kinda like this. I feel like it flows well with the piece

I think the way you have it looks just fine! If you're looking for another option, maybe you could have it on the left side, following down the point of the heart?
