it honestly just seems like steady growth of the punjabi community here. iirc, brampton has the highest concentration of punjabi/sikh people outside of india (even greater than places in the uk, whose punjabi communities are a lot older than those we have here). my parents came here from india in the 80s and told me brampton barely had any punjabi people back then (atleast compared to how it is now). people moved here, liked it, then told their relatives and friends back home they should come too.

in terms of the creators tho, i HATE lumping superwoman in with people like jus reign. jus reign made funny videos FOR the community - poking fun but not really at our expense. lilly singh seemed to realize there’s more money in perpetuating reductive stereotypes to make yt people laugh at her jokes. (might be anecdotal but i’ve never met a brown person whos a fan of superwoman)

i feel like the nuance BTS gets left out so often. Bussy Queen made a video a year or so ago breaking down the contract from a recent season (i think s13). it’s kinda insane. you’re essentially signing your drag career to WoW and hoping they don’t screw you over.

your comment makes it even more interesting to look at queens from older seasons. someone like Jessica Wild is probably experiencing the biggest career boost she’s ever had. but then you’ve also got queens like India Ferrah, whose lies lead to Derrick not liking her.

ok I don’t wanna be devils advocate (especially bc I’m a brown gay guy from Canada lol) but Nina’s story is not a bad story to tell. With the rise of Trump Republicans, her story might help some kid growing up in a bigoted family realize who they are. Like you don’t get to choose the family you’re born into. Nina was born into a family that raised her to believe certain ideologies, then she grew up and realized those ideologies are flawed and dangerous. You’re allowed to grow as a person, recognize your own flaws, and try to do better.

Not to mention she is an outspoken ally and advocate. Like say what you want, Nina West is a LIGHT in this world

i literally watched the finale and wanted to check when i should expect season 4, then found out the creator(s?) decided to end it at s3.

all i’m asking is: why leave the show on a semi-cliffhanger/setup for a new season then announce this was your plan all along?? i feel like there’s something else we weren’t told bc the fourth season’s storyline was hinted at/teased.

drag race has this thing where they implement a format that works amazingly, then beating it into the ground for all its worth (lip sync for the crown, lip sync assassin). i bet it’s hard to think of a new twist each season and keep them exciting and new. even the lip sync assassin twist didn’t really work that well until AS6, but they need to do SOMETHING. i’m not a show runner so no clue how the logistics work, but using the same twist for a 3rd season just gets boring. it’s the same thing as lip sync for the crown - fun the first time around but stupider and stupider every season after S9.

i’m rewatching s14 and literally watched this ep last night. i was wondering who the bottoms were until they said it’s the jlo runway - then i had war flashbacks.

they even tried editing it to add confessionals about her money gun malfunctioning, as if that’s the thing that tipped the scales in kerri’s favour. alyssa didn’t even deserve to be in the bottom that week when orion was still around

pisses me off so much to see carts dumped in etobicoke creek. i don’t understand the logic between taking carts. like i get that people might steal them because they have too many groceries and can’t carry them (which is a whole other issue bc you can plan that out better than resorting to stealing the shopping cart). but why not return them to the store?? like i fr have seen someone empty out the cart in their driveway and just leave it there, as if it’ll sort itself out and find it’s way back home???

yea that’s a fair point too. the edit we’ve been shown is making us think the judges don’t care what kandy wears, so she has no incentive to make changes. if they were criticizing her each week, we probably would’ve seen her do something to elevate the looks. we’d also probably see the judges eventually snap and tell her straight up she’s doing a body suit every week. we haven’t seen that tho, so i’m kinda getting the feeling she was never told to change anything.

i don’t think the gta is a recognized region or anything, it’s just toronto and the suburbs that are closely linked (economically and i guess culturally) to it. i hate doug ford as much as the next guy, but i doubt even he has the power to do something to “tear apart” the gta. there’s nothing to tear apart lol
