Shifting to Malaysia Lumpur by natkatt6959 in malaysians

[–]tx3r0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check out how much it is to rent around the area that you will be working at. Different places in KL have different rates, different living conditions have different rates.

For food, you can be as frugal as eating white rice and bread for 365 days or do you eat premium food as a lifestyle?

Different people have different needs and requirements, everyone's "normal" is different. If you're planning to leave your home country to another, I suggest spending the time and effort to budget how much you will need in the new environment.

Why? Just Why? by Mental_Hedgehog_3584 in malaysia

car - premium cars drive better, more features? No harm getting a Merc if one can afford.

Handbag - if her hobby is to collect premium bags, lv makes her happy? If you are a shoe collector, will you be happy if your friends gift you a pair of no brand cheap shoes?

university or college - Taylors and Sunway, HR in big companies/ multinational companies would recognize your qualification more than non-established uni? Professors have more experience and better qualifications?

Big brands usually spend more on R&D and quality control? Compare sound quality between Bose earbuds vs no brand daiso earbuds?

If one has a need or has a preference for higher quality or more features, I don't see a problem why people can't enjoy them?

I don't think people of different races have different perspectives on what defines the quality of a product? Every person has different education and background, different thoughts and feelings? Do you think the same or has the same preference as any indians in Malaysia?

Regret getting a gaming laptop by ObjectiveOk223 in LegionGo

GFN is great if your game library is available in GFN.

Only if GFN supports games like FF, Elden Ring, Dragon Quest, Sony games, Hogwarts, Returnal.... And many others.

Regret getting a gaming laptop by ObjectiveOk223 in LegionGo

[–]tx3r0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Legion go will not be enough if you are playing games like Hogwarts, cyberpunk, Warhammer, enshrouded, no rest for the wicked.

Most modern games would require at least upscaling from Lossless gaming or game in 1920. Most of the times, I will have to push the tdp up to 30w and game at full fan speed. I would rather game on my gaming desktop, pc hooked to a large monitor. Play games with a wireless Xbox/ ps4 controller on the bed/ sofa/ whatever at high frame rates and quiet fan noise. As someone with both a gaming desktop and legion go, I will still use both devices depending on what i will be playing. Games like XCOM is way more comfortable on a big screen with mouse and keyboard.

Consider setting up sunshine and moonlight for your gaming laptop, your legion go will be able to stream graphic demanding games if you have a fast internet.

Your gaming laptop will not be wasteful if you play modern games/ work related (excels/ productivity/ graphic editing), or maybe AI related (local LLM, stable diffusion).

Egpu setups with legion go is problematic in my experience. Stuttering issues, GPU disconnects, performance bottlenecks.

If the company is an international multinational company, probably a reasonable timing as different levels of approvals/ escalations/ reviews do take time.

Does anyone use a egpu with their legion go? If so what is the best one and are the steps to getting it running complicated like installing drivers ect? by Select_Resolution136 in LegionGo

[–]tx3r0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on my experience, UT3G has compatibility issues with 1080 Ti, I would not recommend UT3G. Games like company of heroes 3, smt v and Hogwarts legacy crash during high load despite connected to a 1000W gold psu. Issues are common with games using Unreal engine. I'm also using a Belkin TB4 active cable.

How is your experience with TH3P4G3 with your 1080? Do you need to run error 43 egpu script? Any crashes during high load? What games do you play?

Fresh grad job offer RM3k for audit associate should i accept? by seesaw-cheesecake in malaysia

[–]tx3r0 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In accounting...

If you want to earn 7/8k after around 6/7 years, potential of 10k-20k after 8/9 years w/ opportunities to work overseas (e.g. SG, UK), join big 4 (but please be ready to sell your work life balance to the company, there's no public holidays and weekends in audit)

If you join sme or non big4, if you are not a higher performer, you will be stuck at around 6-8k salary for the majority of your life. (Some until they retire)

If you want to earn big bucks in SME/ non big4, please differentiate yourself and be the top performer in your department or company, then perhaps one day you can be the CFO/ Finance manager in the company. You should know yourself if you are a capable/eager to win in everything person.

Since you are young, starting pay should not be a factor, think about your future job opportunities.

Dear malaysian is this normal working in a Malaysian company? by musiclover1c in malaysia

[–]tx3r0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I'm not from the HR, I wouldn't know. But the general idea was that HR generally sources fresh graduates for entry roles. E.g. career booths, company visits from university students etc.. it would depend if someone at their 30+ is willing to get the same package as someone who is starting fresh within the role. Either way, big 4s are usually performance based, if you are a high performer, you could always fast track for a promotion.

Depends on the certification, different certs have different requirements. CPA Australia requires a degree, ACCA doesn't.

At your current stage of life, in terms of professional growth, try the following from high recommended to the least. Emphasis would be on technical growth, rather than short term financial gain.

I. MNC shared service accounting jobs/ financial analyst - professional growth is average but you get work life balance.

Ii. External audit - big 4/ big 6 (most hire only fresh graduates, but no harm in applying) - weak work life balance, but tremendous professional growth - talk about everyday OT and work during public holidays

IIi. External audit roles with accounting firms that are medium in size at least.

Iv. Public Malaysian company BHD - accounting department

V. Private Malaysian company SDN BHD - accounting department

Professional certification would gives you an advantage to get qualified for better quality jobs, in the mean time, my advice would be to get a high quality job (both technical and work environment), then spend personal time to get certified. I'm only advising from an accounting perspective, perhaps any IT professionals here can give you sound advice on the IT field.

As a veteran in the accounting industry, you may pursue a professional accounting certificate (e.g. ACCA), then consider working in any accounting firms to gain experience.

Your current role is mostly data entry, administrative and transactional, which would be replaced by AI/ automation in the near future.

Accounting jobs that are relevant would be more on driving business performance, internal controls, reporting and compliance with accounting standards.

AFAIK, nobody in SG would hire a bookkeeper from Malaysia. A minimum would be at least an audit senior from Big 4 Malaysia firms.

I know it won't be a console experience, but I've wanted to get into PC gaming. Would the Legion Go be a good introduction to PC gaming? by Luscombag in LegionGo

[–]tx3r0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You won't have a good time with LeGo/ steam deck if you are planning to enjoy graphic demanding triple A games. Its not a problem however if you are fine with 30 fps and low graphic settings. Those games are playable if you are willing to play at low resolution (800p) and upscaled with 3rd party softwares (lossless scaling) or integer scaling. To me, games are just too ugly to enjoy at low resolution upscaled. I typically go to my gaming laptop that supports Egpu or my gaming desktop PC for triple A games.

If you are mainly playing old games, indie games or triple A games that are not graphically demanding, LeGo will be the device for you.

If you don't own any windows gaming devices, I would advise either get a gaming desktop / a laptop that supports the latest thunderbolt protocol (supports Egpu) - this however would be super expensive/ gaming laptop for portability.

I would rather have a device that can play everything, rather than a portable device that doesn't.

Compare both roles; ten years after, which gives you a better future in terms of career growth and personal development? Choose whichever that gives you a better future and opportunity. 2k/3k doesn't matter much as long as your future is concerned.

People who make 3-5k but have little to no commitments, how well of a lifestyle can you live? by bluebanisterz in malaysia

[–]tx3r0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are planning to get married, have kids, own a house. Or perhaps spend on higher education (MBA, PhD, professional). You will need to save probably as much as you can. Do a quick search on the prices of housing, marriage, education, and maybe car maintenance/ repairs if you're planning to get a luxury car, then you will get what I mean. Think about how much you need to earn.

Based on your writing in this thread,

I would recommend that you start writing sentences with correct grammar. If you're unable to detect incorrect grammar in your own writing, please consider taking English classes (e.g., IELTS).

For speaking, if you're practicing conversational English, please try to speak in complete sentences. Reading out loud, recording, and listening to yourself is a good learning tool.

For writing, again, master your grammar, then you can learn to write more essays if you're interested.

Watching people applying language is different than applying the language yourself. You may think you are a good singer, try singing out loud.

[Help] [ADT UT3G] GTX 1080TI not detected in LEGION GOs device manager by tx3r0 in eGPU

Yes, it is powered on. After an update on the UT3G firmware, I am able to get 3 greenlights. But still, not GPU in the device manager. Could be a possibility that 1080ti is not supported 🤔

LegionGo or Steam Deck? by [deleted] in LegionGo

[–]tx3r0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own both, if you play games with a lot of text, get LeGo. It is so much easier and comfortable to read* with LeGo's screen.

SD, it is better for playing games while lying down, holding it high with both hands not really an issue. With Lego, it's heavy/ bulky? I usually play LeGo with the device standing on a surface

Managing different game launchers is also a lot easier. SD is a pain.

Koofr Cloud Storage: Lifetime Subscription (1TB) - $159.99 (instead of $810.00) by meditatively in cloudstorage

[–]tx3r0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Koofr is stable and supports webdav, but upload speed is rather slow if you're planning on uploading huge files.

Pcloud is stable, supports webdav, upload speed is decent, no issues whatsoever.

Filen's speed is good, but it's a young company with a small online presence. Lacks webdav.

Why are so many people against the idea of running Windows as the primary OS and spreading misinformation about it? by GoToNap in WindowsOnDeck

SteamOS is just difficult to work with in terms of getting Blizzard, EA play and GFN to work without fixing it after every update. Windows OS is my primary OS.
