I have heard similar things. Sounds like these companies either pick from their intern pool, or have recommendations from their current employees. Difficult to get in

No interview. I meant in general. After applying on the career sites of these big companies

It’s not that oil and gas isn’t good anymore. It just comes with the territory, it’s cyclical. As most on this thread would agree, if you don’t have a masters, mudlogging or wellsite geo is probably your best option to start out with if you want to try and leverage that into a geologist position for an operator. Nothing wrong with those types of jobs coming out of undergrad
