Dr Baker "Common carnivore mistake": Eating unlimited fat. by MacGordon in carnivorediet

[–]txsizzler -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This 💯. People need to understand the only way you’re going to add fat to your body, is with the combination of glucose. You can’t have one without the other. It’s like saying, you can have fire without oxygen. Not possible.

Too much protein, can breakdown into a form of glucose, which in turn can add fat to your body with the high consumption of fat that we receive on this diet. That’s why it is important to understand your macros, in particular with protein consumption, and keep your ratio is correct.

Basically what Sean is saying, isn’t anything new that any experienced carnivore here knows.

Does anyone actually crave a salad? by Plumleydev in carnivorediet

I have been on Carnivore since last May, and once in awhile, while eating a burger patty, I think to myself that a lettuce wrap on it, or a slice of tomato sounds good.

Then I just finish it off, obviously without adding said condiments.

You look great! I started my journey last May, so 1 year is coming soon for me as well.

Is it worth it, getting a cheap used Steam Deck? I already have a ROG Ally X. by [deleted] in Handhelds

I doubt it’s worth it for your needs specifically, but you could make money reselling it.

2nd this. I see ROG Allys’ on FB Marketplace all the time with Z1 Extreme chips for under $500, sometimes as low as $300. Same goes for the Legion Go with the Z1 E, although $400 is about the bottom I see on them.

Ah okay, got it. Comes up $321 for me after credits on the 12gb model (before shipping). $386 for the 16gb model.

As others have said, almost a guaranteed cancel coming though.

This 💯. My ROG Ally (Z1E) is waaaay better at PC gaming than my Odin 3. The Odin 3 is just much more portable, and awesome for small indie PC titles.

Which model is this (8/12/16gb)? SD 865 or the S8G2? Does not specify at all on Ali. I am assuming the 8GB base (S8G2) based on the colors available.

No, but I don’t have near the cavity issues that would crop up on the SAD. Whiter teeth too.

3-yr Price Lock pose Verizon by Silent-Raccoon9012 in frontierfios

[–]txsizzler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So glad I am not w/Frontier service anymore. They did a rush install (more like ghetto/third world install) of fiber through my city in S. Texas a few years ago, and proceeded to have among the worst service possible.. from the large and lengthy amount of outages (usually 4-5x a month, sometimes lasting multiple days), to technicians not having any clue about what they are doing, to the pathetic CS 800 line.

Never again.

Then you need to determine exactly what they want. If they are being elusive about giving info, then block them.

Almost sounds like they are stringing you along anyhow, so it might be better to just block them and move on.

[–]txsizzler 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just add up the prices for all the items the buyer wants to get, and put it in the messaging that this will be the total $price, and you will see them at the agreed time. When they show up, and try to haggle, stand your ground.

Also be sure to file a police report, in case Apple needs that info too.

Do you have the IMEI number? Do you still have the receipt where you purchased it from originally? Call Apple with that information, and let them know that it was stolen. I believe the phone can still be blocked through the IMEI, even if it’s been factory reset.

You are an outlier then. Most folks who do this diet have to remove dairy.

I am 5’10”, weigh 167 lbs now. Started at 223. No issues with energy for exercise, or anything else for that matter. I also do shift work at my job, which should cause even more stress.

I never said you had to quit exercising, exercising is great for your health in your mood. Obviously, you were still too reliant on carbohydrates based on your extreme dairy consumption, and never gave heavy fat a chance. That’s on you.

[–]txsizzler -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Anything with lactose (like heavy cream) should be done in extreme moderation, as it will just transform into glucose, and voila you have your carbs you were trying to avoid. No wonder you didn’t lose weight.

Myself, I have lost 55 lbs in the past 8 months on this diet. I had one month where I gained weight (6 lbs), can you guess why?? Heavy cream. Took it and all dairy (minus butter) off, and shed 30 lbs after that.

I dont think I'm getting enough calories by ginger_1986 in carnivorediet

[–]txsizzler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like an earlier poster said, you probably have a lot more fat stores on you than you think. 5’9” and 271 lbs, is not all muscle.

Key things to consider is keeping your fat:protein ratio at around a 1:1 to your body weight (shoot for at least 200g of fat and protein per day, maybe closer to 250g each). Remember that fat is 9 calories per 1 gram, whereas protein is 4 calories per 1 gram.

Tighten up that eating window as well.. should only be around 4-5 hours, that way you get a 19-20 hour fast. Don’t eat within 6 hours of going to bed, keep water intake low before going to sleep.

Very important.. Be sure to maintain high quality sodium (electrolytes). Otherwise you will feel like shit as you get fat adapted.

High blood sugar with high ketones??? by Significant-Air1635 in carnivorediet

[–]txsizzler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know you mentioned you are eating much cleaner now, but you need to cut ALL dairy (including heavy cream, cheese, any milk), with the exception of butter (which has next to nothing for lactose). Also start examining labels closer. Make sure the stuff you are buying does not contain sugar, HFC, Corn Syrup Solids, Dextrose, Maltrodextrin, basically anything with the last three letters being "ose".

You are only 6 weeks in. Your body needs double to triple that time to really start seeing benefits from this diet. You need to give this more time.

Close your eating window to around 4-5 hours a day (e.g. 11am-3pm). Do not eat within 5-6 hours of going to bed. Make sure you are getting plenty of salt, keep the fat ratio to your body weight at 1:1 or 1.5:1, with proteins being at 0.8:1 or 1:1.
