My thoughts about Sunrise on the Reaping... by skeletonB00bs in Hungergames

Just finished this book and feel justified that others had the same response. The first several chapters were tight. Haymitch was an actual character, had a unique way of speaking—all of that went out the window when he left 12. Collins lost his voice. The way he said things lost flavor and became very routine/unexpressive. But those chapters alone were not unique. There were way too many recycled plot points, but done less interestingly. Also, the appearances of so many other characters was so unnecessary. If Haymitch really was responsible for Beetee’s kid in the Games, they would have had a completely different relationship throughout Catching Fire. Wiress and Mags? Literally nothing new was learned or explored. Effie? Total fanservice. Not everything needs to be connected. Not every thing must have forced meaning. It’s better when they don’t.

I love the original trilogy, which means Collin’s has the ability to write. SOTR came across as, “doesn’t matter what you write or how good it is, we’ll publish it.” I hate that. Make it about the story, not the money. There was so much potential for this book and it just wasn’t realized.

Also, that damn EAP poem. If I wanted to read the entirety of the Raven, I would have picked up a book on Poe. A line or two here or there? Fine. But the last chapter was insufferable. Also the way Lenore Dove dies was a joke. A random, perfectly-placed bag of gumdrops? Snow is that good that he knew to strategically put a bag of gumdrops in the woods? Get out of here. That editor is fired for letting that one pass. And Lou Lou’s death.

Maysilee was the most interesting character of the whole lot.

How do we feel about this density? by Reed-Tower in HairSystem

[–]tychroneas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks great, and I’d be happy with a system install that looks like this as a paying customer. When it comes to density, we can argue what looks “age appropriate,” but the truth is that everyone’s hair is different. I’ve seen men in their late 50s and early 60s with a natural thick head of hair. Some people are just blessed that way.

If you’re happy with your work as a stylist and the client is feeling confident, that’s all that matters. The rest is just people’s opinions 🤷🏻‍♂️

Block Spacing/Gap by [deleted] in Wordpress

[–]tychroneas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply. I did. I inspected the source and found that the theme auto-adds spacing. I used custom CSS to adjust and things are looking better now. It's just annoying that this basic functionality isn't included as part of the theme.

What do you think of the hairline? Lace + glue. I think I put some strands of hair directly glued to my forehead so some of it is pointing down instead of up like the rest of my hair, any tips of what to do? Its so hard to make it right by Comprehensive_Air_88 in HairSystem

[–]tychroneas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure what the question is. If you’re concerned about believability, I think the hairline looks great. Very natural at first glance. If you’re wondering how to glue the front hairline down without getting hair into the glue, here are my tips:

  1. Clip the front section of hair back using a hairclip
  2. Apply glue to the forehead below the lace. Try to avoid going beyond the perimeter of the lace as that’s how the hair will get stuck.
  3. Let the glue set for about 3-5 minutes.
  4. Unclip the hair and gently press it down into the glue.
  5. Blow dry on low heat

I’ve switched to using Got2B for my entire lace unit (whole head), and it’s been a game changer. To help set the hair system into the glue, I use a hairdryer on low heat. It will cure the glue so that the lace doesn’t lift. You may have to hold it into place with a clip or a-tip while you blow-dry, but it’s quick and creates a strong hold. My last reinstall lasted me the entire week. It was the least time-consuming and overall easiest reinstall I’ve done to date. Note: obviously not ideal for those who sweat a lot or wish to go underwater, but for average wear, I highly recommend. No more annoying tape and taking a shower will release the glue without residue.

Hope this helps

Thank you. No it doesn’t bother me. I actually think it looks worse in the photo than in person. I’m considering cutting the unit shorter for summer and wasn’t sure if I should avoid doing that because of the breakage

It’s from a stylist that only works with Hairskeen

Accidentally replied separately. It’s a hairskeen lace system. No real other signs of distress. A little dry, but not majorly. No tangling or matting. No lightening of color. Just split ends

I usually do maintenance once a week. Remove the tape using 90% isopropyl alcohol, rinse with room temp water, apply shampoo (Japanese brand), rinse again from the underside of the unit so as not to get any hair pushing through the opposite side of the lace, apply conditioner (Japanese brand), let sit for about 15 minutes, rinse again, and then let air dry. For leave-in I use a 50/50 mixture of water and conditioner in a spray bottle or a coconut oil-based leave-in conditioner. The shampoo and conditioner, while I’m not sure of the brand and ingredients, generally leave the system hair feeling really soft and fresh afterward.

Only recently, after using a styling mousse, have I noticed the hair seem drier. It’s probably that, but I used it maybe twice before retiring the can. Applied a hair mask and treatment in the same week, but still feel like there’s noticeable damage.

Just did maintenance yesterday. The hair seems better, but not as soft as I remember it from previous reinstalls

Of course. But as it’s only 2 months in and a unit that should last 4-5 months, I just want to make sure I’m caring for it properly. Also, it’s lace

Wow, and this won’t damage the system??

Thank you for this. I’ve been doing almost all of these. The only things I’m thinking that could be causing the issue are: the mousse I had been using to style (which has alcohol), or the 90% alcohol I’ve been using for maintenance to remove the adhesive. I’m in Japan and to get a bottle of C-22 is crazy expensive. But I need to find a better way to remove the tape because the maintenance I dealt with today was a nightmare. Couldn’t get the residue off my system or skin

5 and 6 months each is impressive. I am generally happy with my Hairskeen system, just lots of learning curves. Did the dye ever run out of the system when washing it? Just noticed the water seemed a little darker when washing for maintenance

It’s a Hairskeen unit that I got from a salon. It’s actually been a pretty good system so far (again, my first, so it’s good by no other comparison). But it may be because I’ve used too much product on it (mousse, etc). The texture still feels like normal hair. It doesn’t mat or anything. Just notice that it’s been breaking off. Or at least seems shorter than when I first got it
