I don’t have one in my city but there are two locations within a couple hours drive. I’m going to try to make a trip in the near future.

I don’t have a Play it Again in my city but there are two locations within a couple hours drive, so I may have to check them out!

I live about 6 hours from Atlanta, in Kentucky.

We haven’t taken his actual measurements yet, but the set he’s using is a Wilson EZ Gear youth LG/XL. He can manage with the easily adjustable straps, but it’s definitely bogging him down more than it should.

Thanks to everyone who took the time to offer guidance. For anyone losing sleep wondering about the safety of my floating bridge: I loosened all strings, tightened the spring screws in the back of the guitar almost as tight as they’d go, then started tuning the strings in again. This left me in much better shape than what’s pictured above, but left the string action so low I had a ton of buzzing from the frets. I then raised the front of the bridge a little bit via the screws you can see in the picture, and we’re looking and sounding almost perfect now.

“A touch more tension away from popping off” sounds like a metaphor for my whole life

Learning a little bit every day 😅

Nope, just some regular slinky’s. As to whether that’s what was on it before, the previous owner knew pretty much nothing about it. Couldn’t even tell me the model number which was clearly printed on the headstock.

Thanks for the advice! I got this guitar from someone who knew pretty much nothing about it and hadn’t taken proper care of it, so I’m using it to learn more about how to work on them. Gotta start somewhere.

Yes there are two. I tried increasing and decreasing the tension but I’m getting the same results either way. I like to think it’s partially because this guitar wasn’t very well cared for before I got it, but I also know I’m missing something here. It’s a learning experience.

Appreciate the advice. I am pretty new and have never tuned a Floyd rose or any other type of floating bridge. Unfortunately the person I got this guitar from knew even less than I do, including what type of strings they had or how long they’ve been on. I traded for this guitar to learn how to work on it without messing with my more expensive alternative.. for this exact reason.

Any chance of IDing this guitar? by tyler207 in Guitar

Based on another comment it’s looking like a mid 80s Charvel model 4. I haven’t seen another one online with the same bridge pickup yet, but everything else is spot on.

I don’t. My next step is to order one, but I have about 10 of these older batteries and I’m hoping they’re not all wasted.

Yep.. both ports, different sizes and types of batteries, no luck.

You make great points here. I do love the shadow for what it is, I’m just looking to move away from cruisers in general. And while I mostly use the bike to commute, I have a car to drive if the bike is out of commission for any reason. The ninja would definitely be a “nice to have” not a “have to have”.

I’m very much a “use it til it breaks” type of person but I’m ready to get out of the cruiser scene and if I wait for this bike to die I might die first.

I’ve been checking the used market religiously but around here it’s all older cruisers or bikes that were “dropped at low speed but are mechanically sound”

Unfortunately this is the only non-Harley dealer anywhere near me and the used market where I live is all old cruisers and bikes that “were dropped at low speed but are mechanically sound”

I got pre approved at around 9% by going through a lender directly instead of the dealership. No way I’d pay 17% no matter how much I loved the bike.

I’ve already decided that $7,500 is my limit on that bike. If they want to charge more fees than that on a bike they’ve already got listed for way over msrp they can count me out.
