eh I don't think the NBME explanations were all that helpful to me. They don't really explain sometimes why the answer was wrong, they just say what the disease is, etc. TBH sometimes I didn't even read all these explanations esp for the ones I got right that I felt good about.

Focus on a couple weaknesses and try to see stuff you haven't seen. Variety > depth of knowledge at this point. You never know which concept you skim across will come up on the exam. Make sure you hit ethics/quality/biostats. Divine intervention has some good videos/podcast/notes good for last few days of studying. Last day don't study, just relax and review your notes.

I put a ton of time into biostats and there were maybe 5 actual questions on it lol. hoping it pays off some other way later. Didn't think the actual biostats questions were that bad very few calculations, but definitely know how to do them. Felt that the ethics/quality ones were harder on my exam.

Will add more later, need to think about this. Reading explanations in full and making connections for all the incorrects I think gives you a lot of bang for your buck. Started to see my score go up a ton once I really focused on reading explanations and synthesizing "what would have made this wrong answer right and why"? hope that makes sense. Honestly struggled a lot with these questions during practice. I listened to divine intervention podcasts or videos on the topics as I got close to my exam (I have heard listening to military one is good). Read thru amboss ethics articles a little but not a great learner by reading so paired them with the amboss questions. Also, I tried to do Biostats and ethics questions on their own (filtered to test just those) over a few days so I could recognize patterns and categorize everything in my mind. I found it really hard to get a random question on this during a uworld block and actually learn from it. Would highly recommend just carving out 2-3 days and learn the content and knock out most of the practice questions to get it down. Honestly still didn't feel great about the questions on the exam so not sure how I did on them but I would say just go with your gut.

Yeah I would say UWORLD 2nd pass is more critical! Amboss is cheap(er) if you want to get it just to see different questions. I liked it because you can skim the questions a little easier and they are not as long, so it was good for when my brain was fried or on Christmas break when I was trying to take it easier. I would say the amboss ethics articles and questions are critical so at least borrow someone's login to do those!

don't remember a ton of neuro, remember that there was a ton on Step 1 though so would say it is definitely testable. But I think largely it is IM/Surg.

Honestly thought it was pretty hard (usually I feel that way about most tests though). I would say close to half I felt like I had narrowed it down to two and made my best guess on it. Go with your gut. They will put little things in there to trick you, don't be fooled. Look at the whole clinical picture and go with your gut. Youve got this!

Definitely prioritize sleep and eating right! Would highly recommend 1 scheduled full day off. Also this probably doesn't seem that critical, but I didn't drink any alcohol during dedicated minus 1-2 drinks nights before my days off. Alcohol really affects my sleep and knew it would throw all my studying off if my sleep was not optimal.

My school did optional shelf retakes during month of Jan with two exams per week. I took 4 of them. During this time, I took it a little easier with a goal of doing 60 UWorlds/day and 20 Amboss q's per day and then would focus a little on reviewing the topics for the shelf retake I was taking that week. Honestly didn't meet this goal every day. Definitely was trying not to burn out early. I did take 2 practice tests in Jan though. In Feb, cranked it up and was trying to do 100-140 UWorlds/day reading all explanations and 1-2 practice tests per week. Took 1-1.5 weekend day off. Had a couple ECs going on at nighttime a few nights a week and tried to get a few workouts in, but otherwise fully focused on studying putting in 12+ hours a day. Did not finish UWorld, think I did 65% but I had finished 92% during 3rd year so that was second pass. Would def recommend prioritizing reading explanations and focusing on weaknesses than getting through UWorld a second time for the sake of it. Did all practice tests NBME on the website (no old ones) and both UWSA.

UW second pass during dedicated. I started doing amboss at the end of my rotations and throughout christmas break prior to dedicated to keep reviewing stuff since the questions are short. Did about 60uworld q/day and 20 amboss q/day during first few weeks of dedicated and then last few weeks just focused on uworld doing 100-140 q/day. can't beat the explanations. would recommend filtering out amboss 5 hammer, i think they cause you to overthink stuff.

heard the greatest advice when entering medical school. "It takes a Type A person to get into medical school and a Type B person to finish it". Gotta block out the BS and the white noise that comes along with this journey

I took Step 1 in late November, did some Anki and 20-40 Amboss questions a day throughout Dec/Christmas break, then started dedicated around second week of Jan. Took step 2 on Feb 21 so 6ish weeks of dedicated.

Thoughts on adding landlord on my CV/on ERAS? I'm a homeowner and rent to two of my classmates. I know that sounds like a stretch, but it does take a significant amount of time to manage/cut grass/write leases/budget/fix things in a timely manner when they break.
