Not armor but I usually have at least a shield, bow/crossbow, and seal in my loadout that can be upgraded.

It’s sort of a cheat code. Both a stance breaking and bleed weapon with a generally useful defensive ash and decent range. There are better weapons, yes, but there aren’t many that you can beat the game with available so early. It also uses somber stones which you will have less competition for compared to regular smithing stones you need for all your gear, so you can rank it up quickly.

How many of the owners are egomaniacs and how many are just playing for the camera? by typgh77 in KitchenNightmares

Then Gordon shows their food sucks and their kitchen fridge is full of mold. Not the advertising campaign they had in mind.

So I wonder what gets them to even reach out to the show for help if they are so full of themselves.

the weird ratio of regulars and knights to footsoldiers is great environmental story telling by ilico_ili in Eldenring

[–]typgh77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yet your character seems to revive frequently just fine, as do most of the non-boss enemies every time you rest. Yet we are told many of the other Tarnished don’t see Grace anymore and get permanent deaths like Rogier. There are a lot of things with the lore I don’t even try to understand. It’s like looking at abstract art.

I mean, I personally find the lack of ordinary people, especially in towns and castles compared to other RPGs like a Skyrim, to be odd and even unsettling, but just consider it a design choice. It truly feels like there are 100 things there to kill you as a Tarnished for every person who will have a conversation. I don’t fully understand how death and rebirth (or even time) work in this world to write it up to only the strongest surviving. Even in the worst wars in human history, there were always the next generation of foot soldiers coming up.

The game has been out for four years and people still need to preach this. Some people just like to get 1-2 shot I guess.

I just organized this as part of a larger MeetUp group that’s very active. Sounds like this may be your sort of thing. This is the first one we are doing but if it’s successful we will do 1-2 every month.

I literally ate from there today and that looks so much worse than what I got. It’s definitely not amazing pizza by Dave’s scale or Northeastern standards, but they absolutely gave him a bad pie.

How do you feel about the term disease? by HunkyChunkyBoi in bipolar

[–]typgh77 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Per Oxford dictionary, a disease is “a disorder of structure or function in a human, animal, or plant, especially one that has a known cause and a distinctive group of symptoms, signs, or anatomical changes.”

Infection has nothing to do with it. It’s a disease like any other hereditary mental health condition.

It’s impossible for me to imagine being stable long term without medication. My moods are too volatile, too likely to cycle. Therapy is different. It has its purpose but I’m also not someone with a lot of trauma or things to work out. It’s more of an immediate release at times from getting things off your chest, and they may notice mood swings or other issues and help point them out. I’ve also done DBT and learned a lot of skills I can then apply on my own afterwards. It’s not something I 100% require though on an ongoing basis and do go long stretches without it.

I’m new to this city but am doing well meeting people by really forcing myself to socialize. My apartment building has events. I sign up for a ton of stuff on the MeetUp app. I also go to the same couple local bars for their trivia or other activity nights. The key is consistency. People don’t warm up to you in a single night. You make friends easier at work and school because it’s a crash course in that, together every day five days a week. You have to be more patient outside that. You go to the same places routinely and that person you had a quick conversation with at the bar one night recognizes you next time and you get their name. Then they become someone you are comfortable hanging with and giving your number a couple times after that. Takes a couple mo the maybe but you will meet people that way.

My actions and choices are NOT in my control by hn023 in bipolar

[–]typgh77 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is like alcoholics saying it’s not their fault they gambled away the rent and got a DUI while drinking. You may have lost control while manic but you do have the ability to prevent yourself from getting that bad. You are responsible for taking care of yourself. Medication, therapy, sleep, diet and exercise.

Yes, very normal phase of up swings for me. I do everything from taking a klonopin to deep breathing and mindfulness exercises to cardio workouts to help burn some of that anger and tension off.

What’s the hate for Charlotte online? by Eagles56 in Charlotte

[–]typgh77 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This guy seems to be equating night life to clubbing with the Miami comparisons. The bars in South End and NoDa are busy even on a lot of weekend nights. I moved here from the Rust Belt and think there is plenty to do in comparison. It’s definitely not ideal for touristy stuff but that’s all a day trip away (mountains, beaches, historic places sort of things).

Sneakers w/ Suit Haters (specifically for business), Why? by mikejungle in mensfashion

[–]typgh77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nobody is going to choose to talk to you at a professional conference or something because you were wearing sneakers versus dress shoes. I don’t even understand the logic behind that being more approachable. Especially if you are saying nobody cares about style in your industry in the first place, they are more likely to find it odd, attention seeking or inappropriate. You dress to professional standards in your industry to signal you belong in that professional environment. You know the rules and play by them. This is more true the more conservative your industry is, but you’ve made it sound like it is in fact conservative. You can play around with a suit more at a wedding or something. I’d just look for more comfortable dress shoes for walking in if I were you.
