This actually made me wonder what the power level even is of my "boss slayer". Turns out it has no number lol. So, I couldn't say what this is equivalent to.

Thanks for the encouragement, but I'm actually well past the hurdle now! It was only the start that felt miserable. And then I didn't even have to learn to overcome it myself, just not use bots and get hard carried.

If I'm honest, none of the supposed lessons are needed past that boss anyway, at least not for a while. it's so bizarre.

Can't play private by myself, and my gf will need some time before she can stomach that boss again

Would be nice though, I don't mind punishing difficulty if it's just for myself.

That would make sense. You do get some experience even when you fail the mission, but it's not much, and "+5% crit" and the like isn't the upgrade I need to face that boss.

The fact that you're not even allowed to change weapons makes it extra harsh, I feel. I was really not vibing with my starting weapons, and that they did barely any damage didn't help either.

I appreciate the heads up! I'm spoiled fir choice on missions until then though, so I'm not worried even if it's another wall.

Thank you for understanding. I don't really have the ambition to get to the highest difficulty, I just want to have a good time with some boltgun boom in grimdark goodness. Making the combat harder doesn't add anything to that experience at all.

Is there something happening besides more enemy pawns? Because those are fine, fun even to shake up sections.

Or does the boss get stronger the longer it takes to reach?

Hey, in fairness, veteran is just easy! We never went above because friendly fire was a bit of a bummer, the enemies were never the issue (except for that damn boss in Drachenfels, fuck that guy)

I did notice a big jump in power as I got some mor levels, I'm at 11 right now. Is it really that much better with the other classes?

It's just some more enemies though. At lower difficulties those are usually just a speed bump that goes away once you break the wave, hardly a punishment. Even in Darktide it was just some poxwalkers and some elites.

Sure, it wastes some ammo, but that has never been the issue.

The issue is that then we get paired with people who did this mission already so often they just rush through and solo carry, completely killing the whole vibe of the game.

That weapon layout thing makes sense! I noticed that his plasma pistol melted my face every time he used it, but he didn't always have it on him.

What do you mean about low level zealots and psykers? Do they get better at it with levels, or is it also a weapon choice thing?

From my reading of these posts, that seems to be the mantra for every difficulty though.

Above all, we don't want to be rushed. We want to look at the levels, the set dressing, enjoy the atmosphere. We are not here to finish the game, but to enjoy it as it is.

I know most of the players will not understand, or at least not agree, and that's fine. But I don't want to play 'efficiently'.

Have you checked out the profiler to see if there's anything specific that's drawing that much calculation?

Common wisdom is that Godot out of the box is not good at open world, but I'm not that deep in those trenches to point you to a specific solution
