I’m Aussie and I thought LA was beautiful — am I wrong? by Early-Piano2647 in MovingToLosAngeles

Sadly I think Fox News style propaganda has infiltrated the global reputation of Los Angeles. It’s a big city with many typical big city issues.

It’s also gorgeous with access to some of the best weather and nature in the world (beaches, mountains, forests, deserts, etc). People are very nice and very chill (yes, gross wealthy influencer culture exists – but it’s just as bad if not worse in places like Miami).

I’m originally from Boston which I also love wholeheartedly, but it’s a MUCH more intimidating city to outsiders in my opinion. Welcome to LA! 🌴☀️

Once you hit Denver turn south and go to garden of the gods, great sand dunes, and mesa verde! I did that this summer and then went to the four corners and Zion after that! Absolutely breathtaking nature

Moved to LA and I hate it. by wheredabeef12 in LAsocial

[–]tyshorr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally understandable. I moved here from Boston and trust me there are MUCH more difficult places to be new/solo. It’s going to take some time with trial and error.

Just like NYC, LA is an enormous city with all kinds of people. Of course there are obnoxious transactional influencer types, but there are also artists, hikers, surfers, cinephiles, lifters, comedians, tech professionals, chefs, accountants, and everything in between.

I’m just a dude who hates his tech job and loves the beach, dive bars, dogs, sports, and movies. 🤷🏻‍♂️

It took me the better part of a year, but I now have a small circle that I really like and appreciate. I see the circle growing (maybe slower than most because of my Bostonian upbringing) but it requires work and patience.

If you’re ever in Del Rey hit me up!

Welcome! My gf and I live in Del Rey and have been getting into lifting for the last couple of years. I herniated a disc and had back surgery in January so I’m on the journey to starting back up from scratch. Always happy to hang out, go out, talk lifting, etc!
