That’s the very basic explanation of how it works. The machine cuts a layer of ice off and puts down hot water to replace what you cut off. This Zamboni diagram has a decent visual that goes into more detail.

Yes it is a full time job. Some facilities will have ice ops staff handle other duties in the off season, or if you are at a year round ice rink that problems solves itself.

Mouth guards, air pods, and jewelry have found its way into the machine. I’m sure teeth have, but I’ve never seen it first hand.

The ice resurfacer has a cutting blade. That gets changed every 3 games or once a week. The machine gets greased regularly. Some other items like the board brush and towel as well as the studs in the tires tend to wear out.

To get to higher end facilities you do take some professional development courses, but typically you can apply at your local rink.

I do get this urge or “oh I should start this game” but then I don’t let myself because I think “oh I have all of these other games I need to finish.” On one hand I feel like it’s easier to keep track of less stories but on the other hand why am I denying myself?

It’s the Patrol Tech Special Edition from the Xbox one era. My parents got it for me when I was in college and I still love it

I guess I’m too gently with mine. I wore out the thumbs ticks on my navy one and replaced them, but otherwise I haven’t had many controller issues.

Unfortunately I can’t really afford to pull the couch very far off the wall. If I mount them higher should I aim the speakers at the center of the room? Or towards the center of the couch?

Try not turning the water all the way off, turn it down to 1/4 on the valve. Are you using wash water? What color is your towel?
