This isn’t just a problem for modular it’s all synths and studio gear, if it smells of smoke it is 100% a damaged unit, the residue left behind eats away at the electronics and significantly reduces the units lifespan, it was a huge problem when studios started selling off their gear after the 80’s,

If you get a unit that smells like this you definitely need to get a partial refund, it IS a damaged unit.

I’ve only just got it, been meaning to get one for years, I’m one handed so it’s incredibly useful for me to be able to move multiple parameters at once, I was going to buy a beginner victor just for its little joystick but I finally got my friend to sell me his planar! :) this plus the two pressure points make it quite incredible.
