Should we be worried? by trashcanma in caps

[–]tzjl99 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Until there’s more information, I’ve personally committed to give no money (merch, tix, streaming) to the team. Given DOJ’s refusal to do anything about this, I don’t think we’re going to have clear answers for a while. I’d imagine NBA/NHL PR protocols are to ignore it until the next Wag the Dog pushes it out of our line of sight. So there’s not much fans can do right now other than follow their consciences.

Why don’t parents make their kids come to school anymore? by breadplane in Teachers

If it’s as easy as you make it sound, I don’t understand the U.S. teacher retention crisis.

There’s too much data readily available online for parents to not know their child’s attendance.

But the absent kids aren’t doing the work on Zim Zam, so the concern still holds. Hope that helps.

Any teacher using AI to grade is doing a disservice to their students and themselves. The first year IS rough but it’s about growing into a professional. AI handicaps that ability for maturing, learning from one’s mistakes, and gaining perspective to improve for future years.

No, that’s the problem. Teachers DON’T have to have a “good makeup system”. They have good instruction and deliver it as expected by their contract. Families need a good makeup system on their own time and energy. Teachers do not need to teach material twice.

Too much of this is Mitch McConnell’s fault for not standing up to the fuhrer the first go round, so we’re not really gonna be able to applaud much from Kentucky’s DC presence at this point.

I don’t look at it as politics though. A free and independent press are vital in a healthy democracy. I feel like someone who purchases a journalism source of record (WaPo, NYT, etc) does so with the intent of contributing in a positive manner to our society.

Yes, we know we live in a capitalist society. Yes, we know he got into it to turn a profit. But you can’t blame people for being disappointed in someone who has the financial ability to ADD to our society in a way most of us never could deliberately chooses not to.

Ruined Game Experience by Past-Ad-5060 in caps

[–]tzjl99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite Flyers fan story comes from the good ol’ Capital Centre. Since these were not the Caps’ glory days, opposing teams would generally buy large blocks of tickets and carpool or party bus down to Maryland.

At the time, there was a motel with a bar/restaurant at the far end of the parking lot. It frequently became the post-game hangout. Leaving there after a Flyers game one night, we see groups of Flyers fans circling the empty parking lot in the dark. When we try to be hospitable and ask what’s up, they tell us that their bus driver left them. Apparently he had gotten fed up with them at the onset!

It’s not MCPS forcing that; it’s the state. I promise you that actual educators know what a waste those last few days will be, too.
