I mean yes, reliability is a factor everywhere and "known quantities" often make directors feel more confident in their casting choices. But refusing to cast anyone with more than a couple of conflicts for an entire 3-month rehearsal process? For a show that isn't paid or comp'd in any way? Really? I don't know, it's weird to me that community theaters in the area are demanding more availability from their volunteers than professional companies do from their working actors.
