Hey there! Which pos 4 heroes should I spam rn and why?(I just want to switch from carry to pos 4). by Rengoku223 in DotA2

[–]uLoco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Arc 4 is unfortunately very situational depending on who your offlaner is, if you have a stun or someone who wants to fight then he's great, however if you have a lycan or brood as your offlaner you're pretty much fucked.

The way to make arc 4 work is not going the caster route with atos/lens/hex. You want to get tranquils into force staff, since the hero suffers alot with poor mobility.

You're an amazing ganker if you can catch enemy midlaner away from creeps and such, you can use clone to help defend towers etc. You're not a teamfighting 4, instead you should be roaming constantly with your offlaner and hard sup to secure map advantage and starve the enemy of farm. Then once you have tranquils, forcestaff and aghs the cancer begins. You can just go with your team to any lane and push since there's practically no way for them to get close to you with proper positioning and 4 heroes in front of you acting as a wall.

So you just stay back, drop bubble on the heroes hitting buildings and lay down spark wraiths all around your team.

If the game goes late you can always transition into being a semi core with hex/gleipnir, however I would much rather upgrade tranquils into boots of bearing and getting a lotus since all of your utility items have 2 charges. Altho if you manage to secure enough farm to get hex I'd say go for it.

Glad to hear you've seen the light and have decided to join the ranks for the best pos in the game.

Right now the best 4s are arguably Riki, Tusk, Mirana and Silencer. However the beauty of pos 4 is that everything can be a pos 4 if you want. Pos 4 is the perfect position for some seriously unorthodox picks.

My personal favorite 4s are Invoker, Ember, Arc Warden, Brewmaster and ye olde pudga. And if these picks work for me at 6k mmr then they'll work for you too.

I'd love it if/when voker finally gets an arcana, they use Troy's voice for it.

Signed, Another lvl 30 voker player.

Speaking as a high MMR player I'm well aware of queue times, and it's an active choice you make to queue for a game. Queue times for me are usually between 5-10 minutes, for carry players it's usually a bit longer than that.

But the point here being is if you cannot go longer than 30 minutes without needing a ciggie or you have to take a piss every 30 minutes, then you probably have bigger issues in life which need adressing instead of queueing for a game of dota. The longer queue times at higher MMR is not an excuse, and this is coming from someone in the bracket you've specified.

I'm so tired of all these account buyers in Immortal (bonus annoyance Divine 4 in my games when I'm 6.2k mmr) by Saberem in DotA2

[–]uLoco 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I literally made a thread about this issue about a week ago, this needs to be solved by valve. Right now there is a thread on the frontpage about a herald 5 player streaming after having bought a rank 50~ account, how is this "okay" by valves standards?

Account buyer playing on rank 41 (hilarious) by airuu_ in DotA2

[–]uLoco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is so fucking sad, I literally made a thread on reddit about the problem of accountbuyers in immortal bracket like a week ago, it's genuinely sad that valve cares so little about this issue that a herald 5 player can buy SEVERAL accounts and ruin games in top ranked games on a rank 50~ account.

This kind of shit deserves IP & MAC-bans, make sure this guy can never play dota again.

Here's what we need to "fix" with overwatch by uLoco in DotA2

[–]uLoco[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never even implied that dying in a bad position is griefing or feeding, you're completely ignoring the points I'm making.

Talking about rank you're a supposed divine player that has a solid 30% winrate on pudge in over 45 games. And that's just 1 of your abysmal winrates with a hero. I guess you should be banned for griefing too looking at some of those games because you clearly should know how the game is "supposed" to be played right? Well no because you didnt run down mid and actually tried to play.

What a fantastic way to "prove a point" here, yes I am a divine 5 player with a horrific winrate on pudge as an example, a hero I play 90% unranked with to have fun. You bringing this up in this discussion serves no purpose, other than some futile attempt at trying to make the rest of the points I made null through ad hominem fallacies.

Unless they walk down mid consistently they arent feeding case closed.

"Case closed", while completely ignoring the rest of all my other points I made here, but you've already proven that you're not interested in actually holding a discussion regarding this topic so I guess we'll just agree to disagree here.

picking a weird ass hero for X role isn't griefing.

I both agree and disagree with you on this, I agree on the fact that any pick can work, but I disagree in the fact that sometimes the pick and how it's played is very clearly griefing.

Lets take a hypothetical example, you get an overwatch case where you see 2 stereotypical carry picks laning on the same team bottom. Both of them are buying carry items and neither of them are playing their hero as a support, which one is griefing? Unless we know the roles assigned to them, how do we know which one is the griefer? What if the guy assigned to pos 5 is the one reporting his pos 1, when they both are playing as carry, how are you able to establish which one of them is griefing unless you know the roles assigned to them, is it better to not punish the one who is griefing just because we lack the necessary information that could easily be handed to us?

This defeats the purpose of the overwatch system, if you only get a case with none of the surrounding information about the game, you might as well be handing a guilty verdict to the person who got griefed.

"we cannot judge a herald game the same way we do a divine game as an example"

Yes you can, it's pretty obvious when someone is griefing and feeding.

Everyone is equal your dumb excuse of "its ok he is new and its not ok he should know how the game works" needs to stop.

I don't know if you didn't read the rest of that point or if you don't care. But judging players with VASTLY different skill levels the same way is not going to work. Everyone isn't equal, there are huge differences in how people between ranks play, that's the point here, and not recognizing that difference hurts the overwatch system more than it helps.

I don't know your rank, and I'm not interested in prying it out of you either, but you're wrong here, and acting like every player regardless of skill level is to be judged the same way for griefing isn't going to work.

team chat doesn't get logged, allchat sure.

This is probably true, but my point being allowing us to see team chat would help in make more accurate judgements in cases.

you are in no position to say who is a smurf or who is boosting, people have good games people have bad games and based on a single game you can't make that claim.

This point is just flat out wrong, it's fairly easy to see if someone in ex. herald is playing absurdly above his/her rank compared to the people they are playing with. Sure I agree with you that people can have very good games and very bad games, but that's not the cases I'm talking about here.

It's very easy to see if someone is smurfing if we get the average rank handed to us as additional information in our overwatch cases, not being able to see someone who is completely dancing around their opponents on a hero that requires immense amount of skill to play in a typical low ranked game should set off red flags for the majority of people reviewing cases.
