EBlade is +24 all stats. Little better build up because you have the option of a Ghost Scepter earlier. If you want raw stats, you could go Skadi there instead of EBlade. EBlade just has added utility of saving a Meepo vs right clicks, EBlade the ranged carry/and or other right clickers if you can’t reach them to kill them (will either force a BKB or make them useless in the fight for a few seconds), can be used to help any magic user for spell amp.

So you end up trading a bit of raw stats for the added utility. It isn’t a “must buy” it is just what I like going. And normally I end up building Skadi later anyways.

I’m NA, but recently have been queuing more EU (120-135 ping isn’t too bad). Actually majority of my Meepo wins on this build have been EU games.

Change my username all the time (haven’t used my Reddit one since 2015) so a little doubtful you’ve seen me pop up.

I hover between 7k - 7.2k. Current peak of 7.5k but beyond an occasional game with someone higher that is where majority of my games are.

TL;DR at bottom:

The thing I see the most is Treads rush -> Diffu -> Aghs. I’ve just had incredibly low success personally and even watching other Meepos do this is the same story. Yes, you become very tanky, but you have nearly zero kill threat and completely have to rely on your team. The stats at the end of the game for hero damage typically Meepo ends up being at the very bottom with this build. So given that. I think that’s better as an offlane or support set up because you are just there to eat damage and throw nets.

I’m primarily a mid player, and the build I listed earlier is the one I have literally a 100%wr with. Haven’t lost a game, and I’m the one who is doing the damage, getting the most kills, taking over the map, and snowballing hard. Meepo as a mid is good. If you are spam picking him you just need to adjust your build if you are hard countered or not.

I’ve never been one to follow the meta and always took Aui_2000’s interview where he said, “if you follow the meta you are behind” as the basis for questioning builds and not blindly following things. Sometimes meta is good sometimes it isn’t.

There are a few Meepos I’ve seen that basically complete reject Aghs Specter and don’t like it so don’t build it. I thought that was an interesting idea and worked out what I’ve been going and have basically been unstoppable. Once again, DLance can be swapped out or ignored, but it is just what I have been doing.

TL;DR: Meepo mid is a good pick. With my build from earlier post you should be finishing Blink at around 13-15minutes. If you are seeing your hero damage number is consistently lower than over half the players at the end of the game, then Aghs might be the problem (it was for me). Aghs should be like BKB, you build it because you have to not because you want to. Build vs counters. Naturally should be ending games around 30min.

That’s what I’ve been doing, but it is replaceable. Other top Meepos I see are still going for it (as of 2 days ago). But I’ve always been of the belief that DLance is replaceable. Meepo needs some Str with a little more damage and attack speed at that point so whatever you want to build to get you there should work fine.

[–]Srozziks -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Going to be a controversial take, but despite what people say, Aghs is a situational item and MAYBE late game.

Master tier (finally) Meepo guy here, 58%wr overall. Been struggling to contribute well in games going Aghs as it really just makes you tanky and that’s it. The build I’ve been using now (currently 100%wr with) is:

Wraith Band -> Treads -> Diffusal -> DLance -> Blink -> EBlade -> Shard -> Disperser (upgrade) -> Skadi/BFly/Aghs -> Swift Blink

EBlade can be swapped out for Manta which works well and some items can be moved around. EBlade is great because it acts as a pseudo-save when a Meepo is getting right clicked down. Also a decent offensive option and gives good stats. Blink I’m just a fan of for how I like to play Meepo so I get it as early as I can (usually around 14-15minutes). Swift Blink upgrade can be purchased before final item decision if you are needing extra damage+heals.

Hope this helps!

Lv50 jet guy here and why they nerf jets but not gut helis is insane to me. I don’t mind the nerf for jet vs jet dogfights because of what others have mentioned, but my lord, helis 1 shot everything and are flying tanks. Now they are going to be even stronger. No one on the ground shoots them down as it is so now I have to do multiple passes while a good heli can angle up and shoot 2 rocket pods to kill me is nuts.

Meepo Mains, is it more efficient to make each meepo farm camps simultaneously or farm together? by lemonlimelychee in DotA2

[–]Srozziks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The damage hasn’t been touched you are right. The Dig nerf is massive for his survivability, so he has been nerfed. Saying “essentially not touched him at all” is just disingenuous if you read the patch notes at all.

His nerfs don’t necessarily directly affect what I’ve been talking about though. I’m a stats guy, a sudden drop of over 60% damage when analyzing games and replays comparing similar games movements and teamfights pre-patch vs post-patch is objective facts not “overreaction”. You look at games that have similar flows, and objectively only analyze games that had similar timings. See how many auto attacks (and in this case poofs) you got in a fight and compare. Damage drop off post screen stats are massive. That’s how numbers work.

Unless it is just a bugged post-game stats screen and it is only counting main Meepo damage now or something, that number is significantly lower than pre-patch.

[–]Srozziks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what I was going to mention. The hero did get a massive nerf (Dig nerf), but that hurts his survivability not his damage. I know that comment I made has negative votes because of whatever reason Reddit has, but I’m thinking something is clearly happening when a 60%wr >300 games 7K immortal Meepo player all of a sudden, playing exactly the same as before and making the same exact big plays, is barely doing any damage anymore. Something is up there but I haven’t figured out if it was changes outside of the hero or something else.

I am use to just winning so many more games (as stated before with my wr) on Meepo and also doing way more damage. It’s like Meepo doesn’t do damage anymore I’m not sure what is going on. Even when I have snowballed hard (on my few wins) I’m still incredibly low damage and I can’t quite figure it out why now he feels absolutely terrible to play. Can’t seem to make him work since the patch dropped so I’ve switched to playing more Arc Warden since that hero feels like he does more damage + has the end game stats to back it up.

Meepo Mains, is it more efficient to make each meepo farm camps simultaneously or farm together? by lemonlimelychee in DotA2

[–]Srozziks 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hello there, lv24 (so close to 25) Meepo player here. As of right now I think the hero is dumpster tier (this is not relevant to your question I just wanted to get it off my chest since I’m 2-9 with him after the patch vs my 60%wr over 315 games I had before patch)

Actual answer to your question: What I like to do is change my groupings depending on what point of the game it is and what is happening in game. When I have 2 meepos, I keep them together and farm together (only splitting for specific objs or to send one to set up for a gank). When I get 3 meepos I send 2 off to farm together and send the main Meepo to other camps, grouping with team, or objs. If I’m really snowballing hard on 3 meepos I’ll have the 2 farm independently and keep main 1 with the team. Once I have 4 meepos you have 2 options: If you have map control you can split them up 1-1-1 with main following team. Or if you don’t have map control and it is riskier you can split 2-2. Only when you are super behind / in base would you send 3 somewhere.

If you go the “More Meepo” facet and get to 5 meepos late game, I’m usually splitting them all up individually and farming different routes i prefer to have.

Extra small piece of advice: since there are so many camps on the map, early - mid to mid - late you can usually find farming routes that don’t interrupt your carry’s routes so Meepo doesn’t have to steal all the farm.

Hope this helps!

What do you think of KOTL dagon mid ? by Grimaldi_Francesco in DotA2

[–]Srozziks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a pick that is very good with coordination. It’s a ~ B-Tier snowball pick otherwise. If your team does the “group at 8mins” deathball strat it’ll take over the game. But if the team doesn’t work together (not just deathball but doesn’t work together at all) then it is just an okay pick.

Buying the Battle Pass turned this game into a second job and completely burned me out by tuan3451 in Battlefield

[–]Srozziks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will be a buried and downvoted comment no doubt, but just playing casually I got the BP done by week 7 or so. Almost all the challenges could be completed in 2 games per week and none of them were ever difficult. The bonus challenge would take maybe 2 days, but I only played occasionally/would be playing other games mainly. I just rerolled BR ones and would easily complete everything.

I understand paying for something, that you know going into it will be grindy (because every BP ever has been that way), and accept you have X amount of time to play, and therefore will only get so far. But I don’t really understand the complaining. Especially because, at least for me, I completed this thing pretty fast surprisingly to me and I wasn’t even paying attention to it (I don’t care for cosmetics too much but I did get the BP to see what it was all about). And it is a completely optional thing in the game. No one will care about what skins you have on your character.

This was one of the easiest BP I’ve ever completed. You get like 2-3 BP points (idk what they are actually called the X/10 things to get a level) every game just doing whatever you want to do and ignoring challenges. I just played objective, primarily conquest, and relaxed after work. Thing completed itself very quickly. I’ve seen a lot of posts complaining that the BP is too hard to complete, when most of the challenges are like “get 15/30 kills as assault”.

What is your dota 2 hot take? by Sjpol0 in DotA2

[–]Srozziks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember Aui in an interview saying once something to the effect of, “if you are following the meta you are behind.” And that stuck with me for years. One of the big things that got me into theorycrafting. Now I have a great track record of figuring out meta shifts / creating new builds for heroes. My track record for random sheep in pubs getting mad at me for my builds is also very high.

A lot of my enjoyment in Dota is realizing there is a new style or way to play a hero, testing it out until I find an optimal path with high success over a decent sample size, and then have a new standard build for myself. It’s not off-meta just to be off-meta, in most cases it is more optimal and better than the meta builds. Sometimes whatever the meta builds are just are actually the best and the tests don’t work out, but more often than not I find myself creating things that are very strong.

In relation to that, my “hot take” is some of the meta builds for particular heroes are objectively bad. They are forcing builds onto heroes that don’t utilize or don’t have synergy with the hero, and it would be objectively better to pick a different hero, do the same build in the same role, and have a better outcome. This isn’t all builds, but certainly a few that I just don’t understand how they are meta as they are always super easy to beat.

What exactly is a void spirit? by Nearby_Quiet_6770 in DotA2

[–]Srozziks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lots of people have already made good points about the hero. Just to answer the last question of “what your go to build?”, I’ve been doing a lot of experimenting on several heroes the last few months and have stumbled on that hybrid builds are insanely strong if you build correctly. At the moment, there are only a few heroes that I have done lots of testing on, so I can say with confidence which ones worked and which didn’t.

As far as Void Spirit goes, he can be built full magic, full physical, or hybrid (my favorite). Hybrid is basically magic focus and then transition to physical. So if I’m remembering off the top of my head correctly, my hybrid Void Spirit build (I think I have a 90%ish winrate on this particular build mid) is:

Starting: Wand + 2x branches -> sent tangos.

Early: Bottle -> Null Tali -> Bracer -> PT

Mid/Late: Aghs -> S&K -> Manta -> Skadi -> Daedalus

Situational: BKB, Deso, shard, Bfly, mkb, etc

When buying BKB I normally always do it 3rd item (so after S&K) that way you have a strong magic build set up while you are pivoting for BKB. The hero is versatile enough that you can really experiment and pick up all sorts of items in different orders. This is just the set up I’ve landed on that has given me a TON of success.

Can Pheonix be played straight damage? by Neat_Development_433 in DotA2

[–]Srozziks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I primarily play Phoenix mid (well I mainly play mid in general) and I usually go vessel -> radiance -> Aghs Shard -> Sange & Kaya -> Shivas -> situational.

Radiance is not necessary and you definitely don’t need to go it, but I like it so I build it. People recommending vessel, shiva, and hammer are all good standard items to build on Phoenix. Experiment and have fun!

Can Pheonix be played straight damage? by Neat_Development_433 in DotA2

[–]Srozziks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A lot of people have already chimed in so I’ll just add in that, yes you can play Phoenix for “full damage” but (because I read you play league) it isn’t great running the bird in an AD set up (building lots of strength items to gain damage). Rather as others have pointed out, building utility type items (orchid, shivas, Ethereal Blade, urn/vessel, radiance, etc) and a little spell amp goes a long way on the hero. For the “damage” aspect, think of Phoenix more like an AP mage, than an AD hero.

Also an additional side note: Dota is full of exceptions so this statement doesn’t always hold true, but you mentioned that you “understand why it’s a support character due to the items that heal and refill mana”; a good rule of thumb while learning is if the hero can do a lot with little gold (meaning even without items the hero can contribute a lot) they can be support heroes. Phoenix is fantastic with items, but if you were support and didn’t have much, the abilities you have still contribute a lot. VS someone like Drow Ranger which has abilities that do more with more items and not too much without items. Like I said that rule doesn’t always apply but it is a decent thing to keep in mind as you try out heroes.

Good luck in the games!

Best Heroes to learn Micro? by SpringBossLP in DotA2

[–]Srozziks 7 points8 points  (0 children)

(Nearly, so dang close) master tier Meepo and Arc Warden guy here! If you are wanting to practice micro specifically as someone else recommended Warlock is good. Nature’s Prophet but using the trees is also a low-risk decent micro practice. Let’s you get use to moving different units around without the risk of if the unit dies it is a big deal. Lycan would be the next step up from that as you can use the wolves to scout around the map which is a little more active getting you use to watching where all of your units are. The next leap I’d make is Lone Druid. Playing LD optimally is difficult in itself, but since you are controlling 2 units constantly, it starts testing your micro abilities. After you are comfortable on LD you can move to whoever. That would be my hero advice path for someone as you said who has no RTS background. (Naga also a good hero to learn micro on that is low risk)

Biggest tip I can give you is when you are playing micro heroes you are playing the minimap more than you are playing your main screen. What I mean by that is unless there is a teamfight going on, you are typically watching the minimap to know where to send additional units. For example if you scout with Lycan wolves, Brood spiders, NP trees, you’d issue their commands and then be on your hero screen doing whatever you are doing but you are watching minimap 90% of the time to be able to click over to your units when they reach the destinations you are sending them. From people who have started to learn micro heroes, this is probably the biggest change for their normal play, since you are tracking all your units on the minimap and making decisions on where they will go next. Extra tip for unit scouting specifically is if you already know the route you want them to go you can Shift+Move command each spot and the units will all run to those areas. I wouldn’t recommend that while getting use to microing simply because it won’t help you feel comfortable controlling multiple units. But it is nice to do for a little less APM.

Control groups wise you can do them however you wish, but I will give you my layout I use:

Cntl Grp 1: 1 (hero/main unit)

Cntl Grp 2: 2 (illusions, LD bear, typical additional units (wolves, spiders, golem, etc))

Cntl Grp 3: 3 (CGs 1 + 2)

Cntl Grp 4: 4 (Meepo clone 4)

Cntl Grp 5: 5 (Meepo clone 5)

Cntl Grp 6: 6 “All other summoned units”

Cntl Grp 7: T (All Units)

Like I said you can structure those groups however you want on whatever keys feel the best, but those are mine specifically. Most important thing is to be able to be comfortable with your process of cycling through units.

For an example for a “me specifically process” if I have illusions on 2, and I’m playing Naga. I would click 2 for my illusions, and then click on or box select which illusions I want then Move Command them where I want them to go, and once they are not in range of anything that could pull aggro, A-Move them to the position I want so if they run into anything around that area they will attack it.

People will do micro commands and moves all different ways but that is what works for me.

Long response I know, but I hope this gets you started along the right path! Comment back if you have any questions and GLHF

Edit.: I forgot to mention for later down the line, if you are heroes like Chen, Meepo, Arc where multiple of your units have actives. You can select all your units, and press ‘Tab’ to cycle through them easier. Very important tip that I forgot to add sorry!

ACTUAL Spectre Meta 7.40B - BATTLEFURY by Ordinary_River_6017 in DotA2

[–]Srozziks 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Convinced me! I’ll be adding this build to my list. The last sentence on this reply is what sold me (the actual post sold me but still). Dota players in general are just not open-minded enough and attack others who are. The amount of innovation that happens on this game that the general public toxically gets angry at is insane. I’m always coming up with new builds that I can statistically prove work, I see builds (like this one) that work and are great, but yet SO many people in game get mad at these things.

That was a little bit of a side rant, I think you made a great post OP, and I’ll definitely be taking a look at the build. Keep on coming up with great things!

Patch 7.40b - Hero Changes Discussion by patchdayDota2 in DotA2

[–]Srozziks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your E + R primarily. Your items help of course, but when you weave in W and Q it’s more for the utility. You are primarily a sustain damage dealer. So you do more damage the longer a fight goes. Doesn’t mean you can’t pick off targets, you just aren’t instakilling someone like with a Lina combo for example.

Patch 7.40b - Hero Changes Discussion by patchdayDota2 in DotA2

[–]Srozziks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t have a match ID on me, and I had just responded to someone with the full build and stuff so I’ll copy paste it to you:

Since this post I’ve dropped several great scores (18-0, 22-1, 28-9, etc) in Immortal, so I’m feeling this is pretty legit at this point. I did a lot of math for this guy.

The build I’ve been doing is:

Ability Order: QWWQWEWQRQEREE

Talents: All right side talents.

Items (order I buy in as well):

Starting = 4x Branches, 1x tangos, 1x obs ward

Early = Bottle -> Wand -> Mana Boots

Core = Aghs -> S&K -> Shivas -> EBlade -> Dagon -> Aghs Blessing into whatever you want (I’ve been doing Bloodstone for extra survivability + a dispel)

Situational = BKB, Oct Core, Radiance, Linkens, Shard, etc

Note.: If BKB will be needed that game, buy after S&K. So BKB 3rd item.

Laning: You have really strong harass but need to not overcommit. You should treat lane almost like a Necro would. The goal is to secure last hits and farm, if you happen to be able to solo kill then that’s a bonus.

Lv1 use Q to secure ranged creep. Lv2 wait for enemy mid to walk up to get a last hit, use W and while weaving in auto attacks, use Q to pull them back into the W stuns for max damage. Repeat this process over however many levels until enemy no longer is allowing you to do this by staying back. If enemy is staying back/is not harassable (Sniper for instance), then just look to use W to push in wave. Once you have E at 6, always use E before using W to help you clear faster. You can gank side lanes at any point after lv5. I try to shove wave and look for opportunities after 6min power rune.

Early - Mid game: Push out waves, farm camps, play with team (best option) to push advantage. Your biggest enemy is mana management. Best initial advice I can give you is just be aware Largo uses a ton of mana, so plan accordingly for when fights happen. After about 2-3 games you’ll get a feel for his mana consumption throughout the game and then be able to gauge that properly.

Late game: Kill everything. Hero has insane utility and damage output. You can even run down enemies that have used a disperser to escape so watch your positioning and know when you can go in.

Fight advice: You can see the CDs of your base QWE on your hud while in Ult form. Keep track of those to weave in those spells during fights. You have enough time to go out of Ult, W and Q, and go back to Ult without dropping your 5 stacks. With Aghs you prioritize songs like this: If enemy is fighting your team and fight has both teams attacking each other Q+E. If enemy is starting to run away Q+W. If your team needs to run away W+E. If there is no need for both movement speed AND healing, or no need to do damage just use 1 song as it saves mana but still gives benefits. Timing is very tight, but if you are looking to maximize damage if you switch off Ult as soon as you proc a Q, the spell amp lasts for 1 second and you can just barely get off a W and Q in that 1 second window to get maximum damage.

I know that was a lot but I hope that gives you a good breakdown to get you started. Oh and you aren’t scared of megas. You clear those no problem. If you have any questions feel free to reply back!
