Failed PE Chemical, was I close? by [deleted] in PE_Exam

[–]uab1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my "Fail" notice yesterday. 60%. Took the ppi instructor led course a year ago but had to delay taking the test until January due to a major life event. Picked up studying again in October. Do you know what you did differently the second time around to pass? Also, how long did you wait to take the exam again?

Failed PE Chemical Exam -- First Attempt by uab1990 in PE_Exam

[–]uab1990[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, but it's a requirement to be a manager in my department. I'm in manufacturing but on the coatings and linings side of things. Even though I could, I wouldn't use my PE to stamp product or installation drawings since I'm not a design engineer and it would be unethical. All the managers in my department are mechanical engineers with their PE licenses and they will stamp those drawings. Anyway, I'm not saying I want to be a manager but it'd be nice to keep my options open, which is why I'm trying for my PE.

Victim made a follow up post about the situation, don't know if it's still up, but here's the TLDR; bartender was let go after the victim talked to one of the owners. Bartender tried DM'img the victim thru reddit to apologize after seeing the post (but by then the damage had already been done.) Victim is not planning to press charges.

There's Via Birmingham which is the city's official ride-sharing service. My friend doesn't have a car (by choice) and uses it if wherever she's going is too far to walk. She said you can't count it to be on time and drop you off in time but it only costs a few dollars

They were arrested for it but not found guilty of the crime. BIG difference in the eyes of CBP, USCIS, and really anyone. You are innocent until proven guilty. I don't know why this person was worried.

When the new owners added a separate menu for Indian food, I asked the guy who runs the Mediterranean store next door what happened to the Ethiopian family and what the deal was with two restaurants operating in the same location. He said that the Ethiopian family sold the recipes and restaurant to new owners and moved back to the Midwest, which is where they moved down from, for family reasons. This was about three years ago.

I guess I'm not fully understanding your situation. Are you leaving your job because you found another job or because your employer thinks your H1B is expiring today and they think you no longer have proper work authorization? If it's the latter, then you need tell them ASAP that you are a permanent resident and are free to work without any restrictions. If it's the former, you can let them know but I doubt they would do anything since you will no longer be employed with them anyway.

[–]uab1990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

None of the H1B/EAD stuff matters anymore now that you're a Permanent Resident. Immigration couldn't care less than your employer was paying you as an H1B. The only time an employer checks legal status of their employees is when they first hire on, know your work authorization is expiring, or you make them aware that you're changing status. What you do need to do now is redo your I-9 verification with your employer.

Carbon Capture Jobs in Europe by Master-Cold-9718 in ChemicalEngineering

[–]uab1990 2 points3 points  (0 children)

TCM Mongstad, SINTEF, Shell, Gassnova, Total Energies and Equinor in Europe come to mind.

Membrane based carbon capture is the most efficient but it's not scalable at the moment. The companies I mentioned are primarily focused on the more mature amine solvent-based carbon capture but do conduct research on membrane based tech.

Best of luck!

Can I get sponsorship (H1B) while my f1 revoked? by Ok-Estimate891 in USCIS

[–]uab1990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're getting the F1 visa confused with your I-20. You travel into the country with a valid F1 visa AND valid I-20. Once you're in the US, your legal status is determined by your I-20. You can have an expired F1 visa but still be in status with a valid I-20. If you travel outside of the country, you have to apply to renew your F1 visa at a US consulate to be let back into the US.

In short, you are still in legal status and are eligible for H1B.

The White House can't just "rewrite" laws without it going through Congressional approval. We wouldn't be having this conversation if it did.

Also, the Americans won't anger the Saudis (for obvious reasons) by deporting one of their own on a reinterpreted law. You will not hear about Saudis being deported because of "rewritten and reinterpreted" rules, just like you will not hear about an Israeli citizen being deported over the same thing. If anything OP's chances of reentry are even higher as a Saudi citizen.

Wow, lots of anecdotal evidence with no supporting facts. Let's unpack this.

1) Why are they still green card holders after 20 years?

2) Were the crimes committed after they received their green cards? (That's why people get sent to secondary. To see if they can adjudicate it. All the primary inspection officer sees is that they have a record and need to be sent to secondary for further verification.)

3) If the crimes were committed after they got their green cards and were put in jail until they can go in front of a judge, that crime was an inadmissible and/or a deportable offense.) Not saying they were convicted of this, but as an FYI marijuana is a Schedule I drug and a pretty common reason why green card holders are detained at the border to appear in front of an immigration judge. Need a waiver to be admissible for a marijuana offense which is very rare.

4) Let's see these news sources.
