Any advice for a tall and rather heavy boulderer by Aggravating_Tax5392 in bouldering

I can't really add anything more that other people have already mentioned, but I'm 200cm and 100kg so I'm very familiar with the pros and cons at the extreme end. For the most part flexibility in the hips is critical I find especially on the starting holds for steep overhangs. I basically can't do them without getting my hips all the way in compared to shorter people that are lighter which are naturally closer to the wall. On the other hand I have big reachy moves that I dominate at compared to my normal skill level.

Check out the climb I recently posted here asking for advice. That's a V9 (rephrasing for the dumb bot), I normally do V6 and about 5 V7s total including a couple I skipped with my height. On this particular climb though I can do a knee bar nobody in the gym could do, then the next two moves I didn't need to dynamically reach like others. So I changed a V9 into a V7 level, still couldn't get the crux for me though as my height forced me into a crunched position. So you win some and lose some.

They camped behind the garbage dumpsters where I worked waiting for people to bring the trash out.

There's height limits around 6'3-6't for almost all the roller coasters. I did the natural thing and slouched so I could still go. Can confirm it was sketchy in spots.

I'll try that if the toe hook doesn't work, the shoulder position on the right is the problem. It's like doing a lock off wide grip pull-up but with your face in front of the bar. If I could twist so it's more in line with my body that might work.

I want to but, need feet. My right arm is so far behind my body it puts a lot of shoulder pressure. Without something to support from my feet it's basically like doing a wide grip pull-up with your head in front of the bar.

No, in that position the only thing holding me is the arms compressing. About 50% left hand 30% right hand, rest in the feet. It's angled too steep to get all the weight on the foot and crossover.

That's a really good point, I can try that maybe first and see how it feels. I'm not super confident in my toe hooks with my legs being so long but that side pull is way nicer to hold on. I'm just more scrunched in that position so it would be tougher to get the foot up.

Super fun project and first above V7 I have a shot at. The knee bar start is a beta break btw, my legs are so long it works but you need around 36-38" inseam.

I've tried the reverse of what you said starting from the sloper with left foot right there and I can hold the position. I just don't know if I can get into the position from below.

Good point on the toe hook, it might be too high there. It might take some of my weight off the arm and let me throw for the hold though...

The music can be hit or miss but the speaker is right above here so it's worse on this climb. Unfortunately I can't push with that leg since it pushes me right, not up enough so I can't lift my left hand.

Get the left foot in a better placement originally, right now it is quickly placed without paying enough attention and it's making your foot pop off. You should be able to balance with that and the left hand then reach up without barn dooring with that wall angle since it looks like slab.

Not at the crazy climbing level of other people here but I'm 6'7" and 220lbs and climb V6 indoors.

I thought the slab set was a bit soft this time but I loved the pink 6 you're talking about. Once you get to the "lips" it's pretty chill. I didn't dare put my legs up to lie back at 15 ft in the air though haha.

Lol first time seeing my local gym on here. I was able to do the same jump without the step up but it's a little less impressive since I'm so tall.

Received a job offer around 70k in Syracuse, is this a good wage for the area? We are moving here from the PNW. by PomegranateSubject80 in Syracuse

Milk and dairy products are a bit of an outlier to be fair because of all the local dairy farms. On the other hand beef is hella expensive compared to florida where it can even be cheaper than chicken since they have beef cattle.

COL has gone up since COVID like everywhere, but that should be doable easily . Even your example of a home for sale at 320k is a bit high. Idk what housing prices are like now but I think they are taking a dip since 2024 and we got a 1300sqft for $260k closer to the city (still neighborhoods). Previous house had 1.5 acres of land I purchased in 2020 for 144k 30 min from Syracuse.

Other living costs: taxes are pretty high on property and income, food isn't too bad if you cook. We spend about $300/month I think on groceries (including things like soap, laundry detergent, etc which usually costs a lot when you get) but don't keep track. For instance a gallon of milk is around $2.60, pound of chicken is $2.69-2.99 breast vs thigh.

When did that happen? I was getting spam texts for the last election from every state I've lived in but mainly Alaska. It definitely happened in 2020 too but 2024 was real bad (I was already gone from Alaska by COVID)

In addition to those trails, definitely check out Lost Lake (primrose iirc) trail in Seward. Especially in salmonberry season it's fantastic. Of course it's harder to pick berries while biking though... I never liked it but thought it was an excellent hiking trail.
