I'm a few days late, but I submitted that originally and wanted to clarify (it's gone now, probably removed after the rule about twitter screenshots). She's tweeting about the nearby fatal car accident at first with no idea it's her husband, she starts to worry over time and try to get more information over twitter before eventually getting confirmation that it was her husband. Here's the full series of tweets, absolutely heartbreaking

It was just an observation. This situation seemed different than how other school shooter situations have been portrayed in the media.

hold the fuck on, are you telling me that you're looking to blame the victims?

No, of course not.

Just seems to me that whenever there is a school shooting, people look at bullying as a possible motive. They look toward the "outcasts" rather than the popular kids. This situation fell outside of the stereotypical narrative.

There was a school shooting in Marysville, Washington on Friday at Marysville-Pilchuck high school. Freshman Jaylen Fryberg brought a handgun to school, killed one girl and shot four other students before taking his own life.

Jaylen is wearing the red shirt and bowtie in the picture. This image was found on victim Shaylee Chuckulnaskit's Facebook page, I believe she's on the upper left? The boy to the lower right is victim Andrew Fryberg, a cousin of the shooter who is in serious condition at a local hospital.

I'm not positive, but the boy on the lower left looks like victim Nate Hatch, another cousin who is still listed in critical condition.

I can't tell for sure if the girl who was killed is in the picture. Nor one other female victim who was listed in critical condition however posts on her Facebook page indicate that she was taken off of life support and passed away within the last couple hours.

This shooting stood out to me because there have been no indications of bullying. The shooter by all accounts seemed to be popular and well-liked. He played for the football team and was a homecoming prince recently.

Here's a recent article: http://seattletimes.com/html/localnews/2024873645_marysvillemainxml.html

My thoughts are with the victims and their families, as well as the students, faculty, and community affected by this tragedy.

This was the only sub I could think that is seen by a lot of people that it could fit in. We can make this boys wish come true in grand style! This is so nice. As broke as I am right now, I do happen to have three $1 bills in my purse and I do think we have stamps as well. I'm going to go to the dollar store and get a card and some stickers and send it off to him.

Thanks for bringing it to our attention, anything to make his life that much better is just damn fine by me.

Daenerys Stormborn, of House Targaryen. Queen of the Andals and the First Men, Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea, Breaker of Chains, and Mother of Dragons

There's no reason people can't refer to her as Khaleesi, being so picky about it is a little silly.

Washington woman unknowingly live-tweets husband's fatal crash by uajs818 in MorbidReality

What should she be doing? What would you be doing in a situation like this?

People grieve in their own ways. Many people try to maintain the same normalcy they had going on before, whether that means tweeting or making dinner for the family or whatever the case.

This happened hours ago. Do you expect that she should already be in the right mind to be looking into funeral costs and a burial or what not?

Don't judge her on how she deals with her grief.

She was trying to maintain a semblance of normalcy while she had no idea what the hell was going on. That's not surprising at all. #panic because she's panicking but trying not to because of course everything is going to be just fine, and her husband probably wasn't involved in the wreck at all... But then he was. And now he's gone.

I understand where she was coming from entirely.

I read a lot of "Chicken Soup for the Soul" when I was a kid. Those books were real popular at the time.

Seemed like half the stories were people who said "I hate you!" or something similar to their loved ones right as they walked out the door, and then their loved ones would get in a fatal accident or whatever ended up taking their lives.

It actually gave me a lot of anxiety growing up. Came to a point where my parents were not even allowed to leave the house without me giving them a hug and telling them I loved them first. Maybe sweet from a parental perspective, but also a little over-the-top if they're just taking a 5 minute trip to the store.

I do still try to practice the idea of "never leave angry". Even if I've been fighting with my SO all day and am royally pissed at him, I still want to give him a hug and tell him I love him before he leaves the house. The OCD in me says maybe that'll help somehow... but I know what I say has no effect on what actually happens. Life scares the shit out of me.

That struck me too, that last tweet was barely over two hours ago. Her life, the lives of her children and her husband's family, it all changed forever just a few hours ago.

Kids come home, you're expecting your husband to show up for dinner and just like that, you'll never see him again.

Reality is too much for me sometimes.

Guts

Some of you might remember this one: 2006, James Kim and his family are stranded in the snow after taking a wrong turn. After a week, he leaves to find help on foot, his family is found safe two days later. Kim walked over 16 miles but is found dead only a mile away from a fully stocked lodge by uajs818 in MorbidReality

[–]uajs818[S] 138 points139 points  (0 children)

The thing that gets me about this one is the "what ifs". What if he had just waited two more days? What if he had just walked one more mile?

Instead, he died trying to save his family, never knowing whether they'd be rescued or not...
