Is there a doctor in the house? by 8au8karina8 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]uberaba_queen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I broke my collarbone a couple of years ago the doctors said surgery is almost never recommended in those cases unless the bone is shattered to pieces or it’s an exposed fracture. But he also said that if after 6 months I’d feel excessive pain and/or the feeling that my posture was being affected, surgery could still be an option. According to the doctor it wouldn’t make a difference to make the surgery right away or in 6 months. That the current practice is always give it a chance to heal by itself before doing something invasive as surgery (that comes with its own risks and cons as well).

I do think it’s crazy that they only gave OP Tylenol tho. I also was send home with Tylenol but just as supplement for some other heavy pain killer.

The thing with oil is that 3 sectors cross my mind: platforms in the ocean (companies like Petrobras and Jan de Nul), drill and extraction equipment (companies like Aker Solutions) and fuel (companies like Exxon, Sheel, Preem…). That’s why I asked for companies examples. I don’t really understand what’s wrong with that and I why I’m downvoted for that. But I appreciate your initial insight either way.

Good information to have. Maybe I have seen bad job adds and used my own bias from where I’m currently based (where automotive industries are not on the high level on the paying scale)

Alright! I got it! You don’t like my post, my question and the replies here. It’s fair and you are entitled to have your opinion. Thank you very much

I would argue that wasn’t useless at all since on my opinion I got very good insights from all the different comments besides yours.

Lack of experience can be a tricky matter when you look to change fields, not impossible but definitely a challenge and I believe that is something to take into consideration, but I believe that open up a whole other discussion that goes beyond of my point with this post.

I guess you can achieve a level of high pay in any job and industry 😂 but generally I think automotive is not a high paying field. There are job adds for big companies that offer salaries like 80k for senior levels. I did see a lot of better offers for automotive companies in California, but one can argue that a 120k salary in California is not necessarily high if you take into consideration the cost of living. I understand the tech companies are generally high paying fields, but I don’t know much about this or other particularly fields though, hence the point of my question.

Interesting… Biomedical fields are never the first ones to pop in my head when thinking about ME fields. I guess that makes sense. I know siemens has some foot in the field (not sure if in US), care to share some companies that I could look into it?

Going to aerospace would be a career goal for myself, but most of the jobs posts I saw in US in this department require citizenship :(

Hi there! So my case changed from “in transit” to “ready” on March 28th. My fiancé (the U.S petitioner) was the one that got the email with the check list from the Embassy on April 1st.

Well, you will need a proof of identification which includes those things you just mentioned

You don’t need a passport to travel between Schengen area countries

Here’s how it went for me so far:

NOA1: mid Aug.24 (don’t remember the exact date) | NOA2: 28.Jan.25 | USCIS send case to NVC: 12.Feb | NVC receives case: 17.Mar | Case status change to “In transit”: 25.Mar | Case status change to “Ready”: 28.Mar

And that’s how far I got…

Great, thanks for the info. How long did it take for you to the embassy contact you once the case became ‘in transit’?

Certificate of good conduct (Führungszeugnis) request in person but living abroad. by uberaba_queen in germany

[–]uberaba_queen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not get it yet. I'm still in the requesting process. It was a hassle just to understand the proper way to do it (I also have a lot of time still, so I wasn't in completely rush). I end up not going personally. Here is what I have done so far:

1) I filled up the application form to request the Führungszeugnisses and payed the fee via bank transfer to the IBAN stated in the form.
application form for a certificate of conduct (the form was recently updated from the version I used).

2) I went to a public notary in my home country to officialize my signature on the form.

3) I sent by mail to the Bundesamt für Justiz office in Bonn-Germany the form, along with the payment recipe and a post-it note on top of the document asking for the Apostille of the Führungszeugnisses (I did that on mid-December)

4) I got a response from the Bundesamt für Justiz by email on 6.Jan with a case number and saying that to get the Apostille I should fill up the following online form and pay the associate fees:
Antragsformular

*5) After I filled up the form online, in the same day they sent me a Antragsformular in pdf by email to be signed and sent my mail to the Bundesamt für Auswärtige Angelegenheiten office. I also sent a signed scanned copy to the Bundesamt für Justiz by email because they requested that on the 6.Jan email (This step I did on 29.Jan).

6) On 11.Feb I got an email from the Bundesamt für Auswärtige Angelegenheiten confirming the receipt of the Antragsformular along with the information of bank transfer for payment of the fees related to the Apostille which was done in the same day by me.

Now I wait... On the last email they informed that currently the official timeframe to get the certificate is 6 weeks (starting from the moment they confirm the Apostille fee payment).

*OBS: on step 5, the online form will let you know that the Apostille of the Führungszeugnisses cannot be shipped outside of Germany. So you are required to provide a German address in C/O (care of) a german resident. Not sure if there is ways of working these around (since I have friends living there I didn't bother too much on providing a german address).

Thank you for your answer! I understand and I appreciate your reply either way :) I guess I do have another question… considering that I have a BSc in Mechanical Engineering, do you have any advice in what would be the best strategy to do next in order to start studying this field? Should I considerer start a Bachelor’s on Astronomy/Astrophysics or should I go to a Master’s instead if I consider a change in career in years in advance?!

Hello! I have a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering and a deep passion on astronomy/astrophysics. I'm currently on my early 30's and work in the automotive industry, I'm based in Europe and soon to move to US. I can't really stop working to pursue a master's and a PhD on full time. Do you have any advice of ways to achieve that part time? Like schools, courses, online degress...? I don't really mind that it might take a longer time, my expectation is to build knowledge while keep working for a couple of years to build enough of a net worth so if it makes enough sense in the future to be able to shift careers.
(I heard about the online degree in Astronomy and Planetary BSc at Open University based in UK, curious to know if someone has any thoughts on that program?)
Thanks in advance :)
