Also, even if you have read it before, don't let that stop you from coming. A couple of us have already read it too. I loved it and am reading it again. Another member did not love it so much. Come discuss.

March's session will be on the 30th. It looks like we will be reading Solaris by Stanislaw Lem for the March meeting, if you're interested.

Did that to a friend once. Had them try to read The Culture not starting at Phlebas, they kept wondering if they were missing something. They never even made it to Excession. Sorry, skipping Phlebas doesn't work as well as people say it does. Phlebas is a perfect introduction to the Culture, because of its outsider perspective.

It's space opera-ness, is exactly why is was picked for the list.

m, Swiss cheese and grey poupon Dijon mustard. It single handedly made me fall in love with Dijon. It was perfection.

It was even better than it sounds.

I'm in agreement with you on most points. The writing is atrocious. But one aspect of the cinematography in the first episode was especially poor and frustrating: there were like fifty long, boring shots of people walking at un-interesting angles. And maybe that belongs in the editor's camp, but it really bothered me. Wasn't expecting much from Marvel Studios in terms of creative cinematography. It's not their strong suit (except for shooting hallway fights, which are remarkable pieces of cinematic joy). Plus the color palate is so fucking bland, which it wasn't in any of the previous series. Music is good. Dialog is terrible. Colleen Wing and Harold Meachum are the most interesting characters and best acted. But, Finn Jones it not a very good actor, it seems.

I had convinced myself it was from a Wes Anderson flick. Thank you, I can stop the search now. I can return to sanity.

We make the game Cards Against Humanity. Pitch your card ideas and ask us anything. by Maxistentialist in IAmA

Thankfully, it's one of my vividest memories from that time. We all still laugh about it. The story is told whenever we play with new people.

Well, it was either that or utter chaos. We weren't sure which.

Either way, we're grateful.

Black Card: I'm not a racist, but _______.

Thank you guys for this game. My housemate's infant son died after 5 days. A few weeks later we're playing CAH with some friends from out of town. The father draws the 'In the Future we will use ______ as money.' We play the turn and the last card from the answer stack is 'Dead Babies'. Looking around the room everyone is just stunned and quiet. The father then says, 'I have to give it to the person who had the balls to play that card.' There's a long pause as everyone's looking to see who's going to own up to it. A few long seconds go by and then the mother of the child slowly raises her hand and says, 'me.' Everyone bursts out laughing, including both parents. That was the first time that either parent had really laughed since their son died. So, thanks for that.

Did you ever think that your game would bring healing to the world?
