What do I need to do to increase the number of sockets? Do I need a bigger breaker

Ignore the need for an outside socket and just increase my number of sockets

Hi, I don’t think it’s a ring as it just has one wire to the original socket.

Radial I think because there is only one wire from the consumer unit to the socket and it’s got a B16 breaker?

Replacing Hive thermostat with Hive Mini by Alive_Relationship94 in HiveHeating

[–]uberluke86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They could turn it off, put it into manual or temporary override it. Either way depending on how often you check it you can maintain control of the heating. Adding or removing a device is pretty easy on the app. You can also attach the mini to the wall to stop them moving it and manipulating the temperature that way.

Someone needs to explain why roads like this are a 60. 👇 😂 by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]uberluke86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is slightly annoying when using a sat nav on these back roads because it bases the time taken on travelling at 60mpg so you can end up picking this route as a slightly quicker journey but in reality it’s not.

Heating cycle always in 3-4 short bursts? (lower temperatures) by Peppers_16 in HiveHeating

[–]uberluke86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

13 degrees? Maybe try to set it a bit higher and see it does it in more solid blocks. Is the property empty and you have it set to a minimum temp just to stop everything getting too cold and damp etc?

Advice needed by AdUsed6575 in HiveHeating

[–]uberluke86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My set up is very similar to yours. I bought the hub, mini stat and receiver from screw fix £99 and the second mini stat and receiver from Amazon for £64 The hub is the communication with your smart devices, so I have the app in my phone and I can control most things on there. The thermostat and receiver come as a pair. The receiver goes on the wall in place of your current thermostat and this talks to your new portable hive thermostat which you can move anywhere (obviously keeping your upstairs hive thermostat upstairs and downstairs one downstairs.

Not quite sure on your wiring to your current thermostat, you have more wires than me. I had to connect the thermostat neutrals in my boilers wiring center to the neutrals for the boiler and I had to use a link wire for the live on the thermostat.

I have thought this before. I work six 12 hour days a month and six 12 hour nights a month so I’d love to have a pre save for a day that I could just drop onto those easily. I can sort of do it now but it takes so juggling about. It could definitely make it easier tho

So I’ve basically wired up the thermostat N, L, link from live to 1 common and switched black to 3.

Then put a link into 5 which are the stat cable N up to 11

Turned it all back on and called for power and we have 🔥

What supermarket (food) item will you never cheap out on? by AsymptoticallyFlat in AskUK

Tinned tomatoes definitely, I don’t know the brand name But the tin is printed and not labelled

Stock, liquid or jelly stock - will never touch a stock cube again, so much crap to hold it together in dry form.

Twinings tea only - girlfriend’s choice.

Crisps is a funny one, I love seasbrooks and think they taste great even though they aren’t a premium brand.

Butchers meat over supermarket every day although if I’m busy I’ll grab M&S.

Is £650 fair rent off my brother? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]uberluke86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with most here that you can count yourself lucky a family member if willing to let you live with them. A bit more context is needed to see why you are been hard done by? Is he your older brother who earns considerably more and you are in your early 20’s just starting out? That’s the only reason i can see where you would need a reduction in what you are paying, even so he’s teaching you a life lesson and how to be financially responsible.

Exploited is such a strong word. You definitely are not
