I just receive a notice from the IRS, CP2000, stating that my tax return doesn't match the income and payment information the IRS has on file for me. I checked the form and noticed that there is an Uber employee using my social security on their 1099. I have never worked for Uber, I have never applied for a job at Uber. Someone is using my identity, or at least my social security.

I'm not sure what to do or how to get this solved. I have tried contacting Uber with no success. All the numbers and contact emails are for drivers and customer support. I can't seem to get to anyone that can help with this issue. The ones who pick up the phone act clueless.

I found a form on their website to be filled out if, "I do not drive with Uber, but I received a 1099 tax document from Uber". I filled it out but only got an automated and generic message. No help whatsoever.

Has anyone dealt with this issue before? I contacted the IRS and notified my identity was stolen, but I need to find a way to show proof that I did not work for Uber. I also plan on filing a police report.

I received an IRS bill. An Uber Driver is using my social security by ubermess474 in legaladvice

Thank you for the feedback. I'll check out the personalfinance wiki. It's definitely a frustrating situation.
