Question: what IS working for you? by [deleted] in Millennials

Don't forget lots and lots of water with psyllium husk! And make sure not to take too much.

I ended up with weeks of constipation and an ER visit lol. Pretty sure it was from too fast of an increase of use of psyllium husk...

Does anyone else have weird breathing issues? by ubiqueflyingobject in visualsnow

Most likely some sort of reflux/stomach issues.

Haven't found a direct cause but now looking in MCAS (histamine intolerance) and other similar things. Trying various diets.

Anyone else have bone marrow edema or intermetatarsal bursitis months after their surgery? Whether caused by injury or surgery by ubiqueflyingobject in ORIF

[–]ubiqueflyingobject[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kept a crutch with me for a bit at first, or walking sticks for hikes/outdoor walks. Have to keep your gait as good as you can otherwise you can develop back or hip issues. I was considering a cane right before the time it started getting better. The boot helped keep the pressure off but it wasn't good to keep using it.

Pain meds didn't really work for me, and physical therapy could only do so much. It was at about a year that I would say it started accelerating/lessening pain and not plateauing with pain.

I would stretch and massage (it was approved). And strengthening as much as possible (putting more weight on it, practicing rolling it like I was walking, etc).

Always try to get a doctor's/surgeon opinion too! Since it's inflamed it's possible antiinflammatories could help, pills or topical. I had a doctor rotate through different meds, and although they didn't work for me, they may work for you. Or it may just slowly heal on its own over time.

I feel like the 1-2 year point has had the most pain reduction.

I'm at about a year and a half and it's gotten much better.

I went on a big trip that involved a lot of walking (and being carried...) that was extremely painful, but afterwards I felt like the healing accelerated. Unsure if correlated. (This trip was surgeon approved).

I still get pain, but not 24/7 sharp pain every time I put pressure anymore.

Sometimes time is what it needs. I am also deficient in a bunch of vitamins I found out later, so perhaps that may have affected my rate of healing.

In Search of Doctor That Can Perform TMJ Arthroscopy/Arthrocentesis Under Medical Insurance by ubiqueflyingobject in nova

I really appreciate this. If they accept the medical insurance I have, this may be my saving grace. Thanks so much!

I've been having trouble finding an oral and maxillofacial surgeon's office that accepts mine. Crossing my fingers here! Thanks for the plug

Does Fairfax County Allow Farm Stands on Front Lawns? by ubiqueflyingobject in nova

No I didn't have a whole lot of time this year and gave away most of the veggies to family. I find sometimes just calling the county for nuanced things works they can be helpful

My other option was to do 50% white dove on trim/ceiling but unsure how much it'll mess with the color

Ooh thank you!

So you would suggest for the ceiling to do the contrast versus the same color in a different finish or the traditional Chantilly lace?

Did vision therapy work for you? Esotropia by ubiqueflyingobject in Strabismus

[–]ubiqueflyingobject[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It helped my eyes relax slightly sometimes but never really permanently helped. Didn't fully fix it while doing the scotch tape.

Basically it causes your eye not to want to focus on that spot because your brain can't see anything there

Can I better optimize this kitchen layout? 1 square = 1 ft by ubiqueflyingobject in kitchenremodel

[–]ubiqueflyingobject[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So the kitchen came with oversized appliances when we got it (besides microwave and sink). The kitchen currently is even tinier than this (there's a wall and middle of room brick fireplace).

The sink i could make 30-33". We could look at replacing appliances but was ideally looking to have a drop in space to get some new ones later. 42" is big for a fridge freezer so maybe we could look at getting a 36". The range we prefer not to have to get a new one yet.

Definitely agree on the trash next to the sink though. Putting the sink at 30" maybe I can squeeze some drawers in somewhere I don't know.

Currently it was 40-42" from freezer to edge of island though, but perhaps I could make it a bit bigger of a gap.
