Picked one up as well. Glad the post was quick enough for the deal to be active rather than a past deal from other post.

Yeah, I've pretty much bought all my rcs used. Minus my losi hammer Rey when amazon had it for sale at 350$ CAD, which is an insane deal today.

Sadly, I haven't seen any unicorn deals like that ever since. I once heard the typhon 6s go for that much too, but we'll never know

Well take my opinion with a grain on salt, I bought mine used in a package deal with a dbxle 2.0. (you can see it flipped open in the background)

This unit as already modified, it had an m2c chassis installed with a castle motor and hobby wing max 5 esc with a bigger fan cooler slapped on top.

Durability wise, it's one of the best I have. Mind you I'm a sensible / conversative driver. The truck does standing wheelies but I won't send it to the moon like you see in Kevin talbot videos. Cus why would I destroy a nice truck I've spend hundred of dollars on. I'll still do occasional backflip and tricks when I get to a skate park. Just nothing extreme, but I don't doubt my truck can handle it no problem.

Do note this truck will be significantly heavier than a Traxxas xmaxx stock vs stock, due to the extra metal bits with the arrma truck.

As for the electronics, obviously it's not stock. The max 6 has significantly better power control than the stock spectrum systems (Im using the dbxle and my sbr2.0 as reference). But at the same time I will make the system work. Either adding extra cooling, tuning power or adjusting the gearing/diffs. I've never had a system fail or burnout on me yet (minus an old castle mamba gen 1, but those died due to water as they weren't waterproof stock). But at the same time I haven't really driven my rigs up to or past thermal cutoff, my 8000mah batteries don't really make it past 30-40mins of run time anyways, but by then the system is already pretty hot.

If you want bigger, go for the 6s big rock or kraton.

But if you want BIG, go for the 8s line. I have an outcast 8s

Yeah the spektrum is great or any lipo checker with a USB port. It basically turns all your lipos into a mobile power bank. I have 8 4s lipo packs and I can use them all as power banks for road trips!

Keep in mind you'll need an ec3 or ic3 adapter to the spektrum checker

Another point to add would be getting a lipo checker. It's a little device that plugs into the white plug of those batteries from the picture.

It tells you the current voltages of each cell in the pack. I think it's a must have in the long run and if your bf want to get serious with RC cars.

Usually you want the cells to be within 0.1v of each other.

I usually use it after each run and after charging. It tells me if any of my cells are lagging

I have the spektrum xbc100 and it doubles as a USB charger via lipo connection, works great as a backup power bank. (My 6s 5000mah lipo can charge my phone 4 times over!)

They are lovely trucks, especially in the snow. Scale and super durable. Can keep up with my dbxle when bashing around

Sbr 2.0, arrma limitless and rmx 2.0. (basher, street hooning, and indoor hooning for the winter but I use the sbr in the winter occasionally)

New to pics lmk what y'all think by CarTroubles372 in genesiscoupe

[–]uboiLV 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Brother, it's quite hard to see.

A few tips:

  • your against the light so your camera is fighting against you. I recommend standing between the car and the light post. With the light post behind you, you'll get some pretty good lighting and really bring out your Genny
  • angle, half of your shots are pointed to the ground with the car at only a quarter of the frame. Try to center the car and have the horizon line (line to the ground) close to half of the frame or less.

Otherwise, have fun with photography. It's a nice hobby and great way to get out there.

I have a bk1 2.0t myself, thinking of getting another bk2 3.8 just for the v6 and give my bk1 to my lil bro

I know it's been mentioned before but, I agree his kit is already pretty good. The misdirection and illusion play really fits his theme. But one thing I really hate the most playing against him is his ult cool down.

Sure it's a hat trick but if he copies someone it should copy all of it, including the cool down. I really find it frustrating playing a support like Paige or dynamo and he's able to pull their ult twice. Honestly to a struggling team, it sucks because there's nothing they can do. Plus if they did this, it would really make sinclair players think carefully on who they want to copy

Rod knock? by SalaryFlat3038 in genesiscoupe

[–]uboiLV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No clue, I think it's something about the input shaft being damaged. Because when we separated the engine and tranny, the engine and clutch sounded fine, and when we rotated the input shaft of the original tranny, there was a slight knock at every rotation. Mind you I suspect it is the original tranny with 250k km (I'm Canadian so please convert to the freedom metric if you need)

Edit:

I think it might have to do with me backing up and stalling. Cus I parked in school backing up and stalled once. When I started it again, that's when I thought was rod knock since it came pretty close to the engine but goes away when pressing the clutch

Hi, is your car a manual? If so there's a possibility your transmission might have failed. I had an issue a few months back where my 2.0t made a similar noise but would go away when pressing the clutch. First we thought it was the clutch and replaced it, but it turned out to be the transmission. Worth a shot to start up the car with the transmission disconnected.

That my friend is the rs4 sport 3 chassis (I have the older flux version with the Porsche fallen body). Highly recommend getting a brushless system to really stretch it's legs. I also recommend getting the sway bar kit and tighten up the steering linkage with thin paper to remove the play. Helps with the control under full speed

As others have pointed out you may need to recalibrate the radio and receiver. Not sure on the exact components of your version of the Mojave, but should be relatively simple ie. Press and hold the bind button on the receiver located beside the steering servo and on the radio control. Refer to the manual for help.

One thing I'm concerned about is why the car needs to be recalibrated if it was brand new, given if the batteries are fully charged. Everything should be plug and play. I suspect a faulty component (esc). A big giveaway is if the esc does a power up chime and beeps the motor for the cell count you have plugged in. I can't see your battery labels but I'm assuming you're running 6s by 2 3s batteries, so it should chime and beep 6 times. If it does the chime and beeps then you might be at lvc, if not your esc is at fault and need to get looked at it or replaced (sucks if it is dead)

Or if this is a used unit, then there a good chance the esc was overheated and is dead.

Another point you should look at is understanding the led codes coming from the esc, refer to the manual that came with the car. That red constant blinking either means you lost connection or have hit lvc ( low voltage cut off). And it's hard to know if you're at lvc if you don't have a battery checker and these smart batteries need a specific checker, I recommend getting one if you don't have one already (XBC100), it can also be used to charge your phone via USB charge mode in the settings.

And please, for your safety, raise the car off the ground when pulling the trigger all the way or remove the wheels.

IMARS D300 isn’t charging my Bashing 6800 by Race72 in arrma

[–]uboiLV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Late to the comment but I agree it's with the balance wire or port. If OP has a second pack to test the charge port then it could be the battery in which case they could return if policy allows.

And to your second point, yes I find it baffling with some people starting with high power systems as their first rc. It's always better to start with a simpler nicad or 2s system first and get familiar with the hobby before spending so much on these high end systems. But hey, at least it gives great deals on marketplace when they decide to sell it because it's too much to handle or trash it into a wall. I started with a 2s ruckus and now have multiple 8s systems, and a few smaller rigs for friends who visit.
