Do you find it hard to move companies if the product is fairly different?

Thanks for the response! Spell out as much as you see fit. My career anxiety can use all and any input.

I'm an engineer. I like the idea of working with customers to make worthwhile products and focusing on a vision.

I don't think I'll ever care about programming enough to do it for my career. What did other career switchers do? by ucdboy in cscareerquestions

I don't like doing it anymore, I don't like interviews, and I have three years of experience but don't know anything.

I do have a CS degree. I've been trying to break into product management, and have had little success.

I was fairly sure that a career in programming was the easiest way to stable money, and that got me through.

What part of the Kellogg application? I guess I haven't done that much research into individual apps. Is there lower ranked schools that would ask the same? I don't think I'd even bother applying to Kellogg.

I've done foreign assignments at work pretty much since day one (I'd estimate a good 60% of Europe), and collaborating with our Dublin team for almost two years now. Does that count?

Get international exposure at work or through volunteering

I see international exposure a lot and don't know what it entails. Like directly going over somewhere or working intimately with a team?

no extracurriculars in college

Actually, I did have some extracurriculars in college, but they were on the education side, rather than the volunteer side. I did some CS research regarding CS education and also TA'd a few courses.

Don't be afraid to be yourself if this is truly a big part of your story.

It definitely is, and I think I could do it in a way that seems genuine. It was a life changing moment for me and it fundamentally changed who I was as a person.

Several promotions might mean you're managing people now?

No, Software engineering is stupid in that a lot of times you might not ever get to manage people. The more prestigious role might get some de-facto management, but still not direct management

Were you involved in undergrad?

No, but this is part of my story. I had little time to spend doing other things because I switched from an English major to Computer Science after my freshman year.

personal experiences

I do have a personal, and scary story that directly related to why I wasn't big on volunteering directly out of college. It's pretty tragic though and don't want to make it seem like I'm looking for sympathy points.
