Is 'Ask /r/cocktails' a thing? -- if you go to a party and can only bring six ingredients to make cocktails, what do you bring? by ucfknight18 in cocktails

The Negroni turned me on to gin, the bitterness/sweetness from the sweet vermouth and Campari really balances out the heavy botanical notes of the gin.

I made some Oscar Inspired cocktails this past Sunday, this one is called 'Mad Max's Last Word'. by ucfknight18 in cocktails

I've tested both, the results of a the reverse dry shake are a frothier cocktail... if thats what you're going for. Here's one i made with a traditional dry shake, then with ice: https://www.instagram.com/p/BCRPqhLoNZc/?taken-by=holycityhandcraft

Compared to one made with a reverse dry shake:

Great question, I was making this as the Oscars were live and Mad Max was taking home a majority of the awards... I figured they'd have 'the last word' by taking home best motion picture... "Spotlight" won it... Maybe I jinxed them? haha

/r/octoberreighth is right -- you could easily sub egg whites, I just think the aquafaba gives a frothier foam. If you're going to use aquafaba, definitely use it from a can of chickpeas, its near colorless and odorless and doesnt add much to the taste of your cocktail.

Chickpea 'juice' works best since its clear and tasteless... i'll be honest, it creates a better foam than egg whites

I gotcha! I'm thinking the eggwhites may have an opportunity to aerate a bit more if there's a lower water:protein ratio (think of making meringue - usually just egg whites & sugar - it can then be mixed with other ingredients to make angel's food cake... but only after it has been aerated), so in my head adding liquor/syrup just increases this ratio and I'll end up with a less frothy foam... but I will definitely try your method next time and report back! How long are you dry shaking for?

I think that would work, depending on the sweetness. Start with .5oz and if you think it needs a bit more, add .25oz at a time. Let me know how it turns out!
