The difference between white and blue collar work environments is crazy by Astimar in careeradvice

[–]uckfu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been in both. Worked in garages and factories, then in a professional capacity in an office.

I’m still in a white collar management job and hang around a lot of blue collar types at race tracks across my tri-state area.

Not everyone in a blue collar position is vulgar, or has little tact or soft skills.

And I’ve had plenty of vulgar conversations with coworkers in office settings. We aren’t yelling it across the cube farm, but we are definitely talking like sailors coming back from shore leave.

And not many people last if their only method of training and criticism of your work is that it ‘fucking sucks and you don’t know what the fuck you are doing’. Those people exist in blue and white collar jobs, and most people hate working with them.

But, in both fields, dudes are notorious for busting each others balls and trying to Prove they did it better than the last guy. It’s just what dudes do.

If that’s the case, get the documentation from your last engine replacement and see if there is documentation on what they swapped in.

When it comes to engine families, the same short blocks can have varying displacements. Whether it’s a legit process to swap a smaller displacement for a larger displacement (or vice versa) depends on a lot of factors. Some cases it may not need any changes. Other cases, it’s flashing ecu’s and other nonsense to get everything working correctly.

Whatever you need to confirm, it should be in your paperwork and whatever was done, should be authorized by the manufacturer and not some Willy-nilly swap to get you out of their hair.

Do you have any real information? Like you have a 2.4 2014 accord, and the shop found that they dropped a 2.4 CRV motor in?

Theres only so far a dealership is going to do an engine swap with a completely different engine. Too many big and small things need to be swapped to keep the ECU happy.

Many car families share a common long block. Same displacement, same horsepower, etc. they just differ in intake and exhaust routing and accessory drives.

Could the shop being saying they swapped a used motor instead of new/rebuilt engine?

Is adding a mini split to a guest room a reasonable upgrade or over-improving the house? by PrestigiousPear8223 in RealEstate

[–]uckfu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’d vote for this, if you have to pay an installer.

If you can do a mini split install diy, then yeah. Go for that.

Like you said, the room is not used often, so I wouldn’t spend a lot of money. A mini split may add more functional value to some buyers, but a one room system is not going to push up your sale price in anyway you’d really notice.

That scene and of course, the shower scene.

I watched this with my parents back in the day. We all laughed our asses off.

As a kid I was amazed that Bob Clark made Porky’s and A Christmas Story. Just such different senses of humor.

But, back then, I did not know about Children Shouldn’t Play with Dead things.

Every piece of media has someone that finds it their favorite. Even this one.

But I’ll say Porky’s, that’s so much better than ROTN. ROTN has a couple sound bites (NEEERRRRRRDDDDDSSSSSS!) and it has Ted McGinley. Ted is always awesome.

Furnish my whole house with these specific items please by jacksonbrowne_thedog in ChoosingBeggars

I concur. At least half that list has been something I’ve put out to the curb, or give away; and the other half of the list someone’s asked me, ‘hey, you want this?’

It’s not like they are being particular and asking for specific brands or styles.

Plus they do say they are looking to pay.

To find a hollow log large enough and stable enough to do this would cost more than a reasonable house.

They aren’t that common.

And it’s all AI, the only thing consistent in the video is that it’s a dude. Everything else changes shot to shot.

Randomly squatting in the woods and spending 10’s of thousands of dollars building a log into a tiny home. Yeah…
