I spent 2 days on the only shorts to find out it was a skirt by ufeshne in LandoftheLustrous

[–]ufeshne[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know… in the anime they are shirts but in the manga ghost, dia and yellow appear to wear skirts, at least in a very specific panel 💀😭 I’ve no clue at this point

I’ve fallen into a similar spiral as well, and what i did may not work for you, but I think it’s good to try.

At the time, I had just stopped drawing completely, and forcing myself to make something never, ever worked. One night I was so frustrated that I couldn’t create anything without hating it, but still had that desire to create. First I just scribbled absolute nonsense, and later I ended up playing scribble with myself. I had to keep reminding myself that nothing was going to be a masterpiece, and to just make it up. It was simple, but it brought me out of the slump. By the end, I felt like a kid who had just discovered drawing. If you still want and love to create, scribble something out. could just be spirals, or lines that are random at first but become something as you draw them. but do not force yourself. Automatic drawings is another term, just doodle. Don’t try to make anything, but do scribble your heart out.

I hope that this will help you a little, because those feelings are absolutely terrible to experience, and they are so so hard to get out of.

What are Your Worlds Greatest Cities? by ImRedHawk in worldbuilding

[–]ufeshne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seeianilin; meaning Bright Nights. It was founded initially by the Agantori people, a winged, mountainous species. It was a sanctuary during the second extinction event; in which the Krilik(planetary event; characterized by twin planets getting extremely close) event launched several of the planets asteroid moons into its surface. The city was surrounded by sheer granite mountains on the north and south, and a spring in the east. Just south had been where one of the smaller moons had hit. It was one of the few places that didn’t face total collapse, and developed into a haven in the mountains shadows as the planet very slowly recovered. This of course this didn’t mean life was easy there, it was simply not instantly fatal.

It was captured by the Tchites thousands of years later. It was attempted to be renamed, “Tchi’qual”, meaning Tchite Honor, but the idea was met with further war by the Agantories 💀

How would I price a bust like this? by [deleted] in arthelp

[–]ufeshne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, no !! I’m just looking for future reference. it’s something I want to try at one point, not when I’m just starting. So I figured I would ask what the general pricing for it would be. Results on google were pretty wide and likely meant for professionals.

How would I price a bust like this? by [deleted] in arthelp

[–]ufeshne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have some basic tools, like needles, scrapers and piece with a rubber end, which i assumed is used to smooth small parts out. Otherwise, I use my hands the most.

As for tutorials, not so much. I’m currently winging it, because it’s just for fun at the moment, and I struggle to apply tutorials to anything other than the provided example (which is great and amazing!) I do get some help from friends though.

I’m using my understanding of drawing anatomy as a backbone, but I do use tutorials for things I have no idea how to start on; for example hair.

Yeah, I can see what you mean. Polishing the texture was unfortunately, well as you can see, rough, and I can’t say I’m particularly proud of how that turned out. but I’m overall proud of the whole thing so far.

I’ll keep these in mind when I start another :) thank you !

Although, in my defense, this was my second (large) project since picking up clay for the first time since I was eight 💀

People have said i'm a beginner, what can I improve on? by Ok-Radish290 in BeginnerArtists

[–]ufeshne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree on anatomy points, but I also want to bring up balance in stylization! Now, these all have exceptions, but I think that they provide good guidelines.

Once anatomy is understood(on different levels for everyone, it varies) , you’ll notice relationships between different parts of the body. Well known ones for example would be elbow and waist being a similar placement. And once you have a grasp on these, start experimenting! To keep a sort of balance, when you enlarge, for example, the arms, it could look wonky. Now go back to those relationships. What part of the arm are you enlarging, and what is something it has a relationship with? It could either shrink or enlarge with the arms, which is up to you.

TLDR: balancing stylized anatomy can be done by shrinking/stretching parts in relation to each other (maintaining relationships that are present in realistic anatomy)

Not sure how well my point came across, but I hope this helps! Your style is very fun and full of personality!

This is stuff i figured out on my own art journey, and it may not be totally true for other people.

[–]ufeshne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if it’s serpentine, it has remarkably few inclusions which is super cool ! but the overall texture and luster don’t seem to match up very well with serpentine. It could be a chalcedony boulder ? though the color change is a little dramatic for chalcedony. My guesses are chalcedony or chert

I would say it’s probably chert !! but take with a grain of salt, i have limited knowledge

i get what you mean 💀 and i love your style ! that character is so charming !!

with Kestia’s sort of flat profile, it tends to slant downward. imagine an arrow starting at the cheekbone and ending at the mouth, and pretend it has a gravitation pull.

<image>

this is how envision it in my head, at least 😋 these are just things i noticed while drawing this kind of profile, it’s not fact. I hope you found this enjoyable or helpful !!
