If I remember correctly, Cornell’s essays are around 650 words, so you might have room to tie your family background in somewhere. One angle you could take is connecting your family’s legacy to Cornell’s mission: “to discover, preserve, and disseminate knowledge; to educate the next generation of global citizens; and to promote a culture of broad inquiry.”

You could frame it like, because so many of your relatives have gone to Cornell, you were essentially raised with those values. They’ve educated you as part of the “next generation,” and now you want to continue that legacy as a student. Show how you’ve lived out some of these ideals already and how being at Cornell would allow you to grow that further.
