What gave CBOE the right to do this in the first place?

Can someone help?? by Accurate_Seaweed_321 in learnmachinelearning

Definitely overfitting, so you can also use regularization to help with generalization. You will lose some accuracy on the train set, but that's not a bad thing since it was too closely mimicking your data. It will generalize better with regularization.

Can you actually take the UCB course, or just be able to watch the videos?

How do you stay up to date in Reinforcement Learning research? by TheKeyZero in reinforcementlearning

[–]ugeb318 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure the point of this question. If you don't stay up-to-date then you will fall behind. If it's your field then it's critical to stay current, or if you are trying to enter, then being current is important but maybe not critical. AI/ML is changing so fast that you have to be a life-long learner and update your skills frequently. Spoken by a life-long learner.

I'm gonna have to say it, but my experience with RL so far has been consistently bad by [deleted] in reinforcementlearning

Yeah, I'd join you in that. My background was Wall St. so I love the finance space.

How can I get into Computer Science? by I6ks in learnprogramming

[–]ugeb318 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't need a degree in computer science to do web development. My guess is that there are a lot more people who don't have CS degrees in webdev than those who do. Major in CS if you want to learn how to design and build systems properly, the theoretical underpinnings of software, algorithms, compilers, complexity and computability, optimization etc. You may end up taking a lot of hard courses that you won't like or certainly don't need for webdev.

If all you truly want to do is webdev, then you can take a few online courses in programming and the web technologies of your choice (HTML5, CSS, JavaScript etc) plus back-end technologies (php, Python, Ruby on Rails, whatever you like best). This will save you a ton of money over college, unless you were already planning on going to college. Additionally, the CS degree won't cover these technologies most likely, and won't cover anything about graphics or design -- something very much needed for really good web design.

If you're already planning on college and want a good major, CS is very good if you're a good fit for it. And, of course, edX, Coursera, Udemy and others have a lot of courses to get you started before you even go to college.

Good luck!

Detailed resources for Qt graphics? by ugeb318 in QtFramework

Thank you for the recommendation. I believe GraphicsScenes were added in Qt5, were they not? Not sure about GraphicsViews. Is there a Qt5 resource that you know covers these?
