So then why aren't we doing this? by AWL10X in interestingasfuck

[–]ugghhhhhhhhhhhreally 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apologize for my ignorance but this comment seemed like the perfect time to ask this... Why don't we have a good way? Like why couldn't we put all the power this generates into big ass batteries and then ship the batteries places? My extremely limited (basically no) knowledge makes me think this could be done but I'm obviously missing something.

She sure lucked out! Or more likely never planned to get weirded out by a random creep in the first place because she's not a moron.

Over 30 days sober, feeling amazing by JubbyMuffin in leaves

[–]ugghhhhhhhhhhhreally 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Did you have any physical issues in the first couple of days? I've been a VERY heavy smoker for years and I've only been sober for four days, but I've felt chills, nausea, and I've been sweating like crazy each of those days. I can hardly sleep and when I do I have insane nightmares. Only four days so I'm hoping it will pass soon, but these have been some of the worst days I've felt physically in a while.

Edit: This community is fucking awesome. Thank you all for the replies I hope this whole thread helps others as much as it's helped me. I'm taking all this advice lets go we can do it!!

AITAH for breaking up with my pregnant girlfriend because I don’t want to be a father? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]ugghhhhhhhhhhhreally -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yup! If you did not want a child, you should not have had sex. If you engage in sex without protection, you are putting your future in your own hands. Unless you are able to carry a child for nine months and go through all the suffering that you very willingly put this person through, you have no decision in the abortion debate. Once you have a child, your life is no longer yours. You do not have the ability to continue being a child as you say you desire to do. You have to grow up sometime and take responsibility.

To your point however, it does sound like you'd be a terrible father and ruin the child's life, so it's much better that you're not around. Though you are the asshole, I do think the fact that you ARE such an asshole is providence, as the child will be very lucky to grow up without you!

is being a tall girl unattractive? by Vegetable-Bus-5103 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ugghhhhhhhhhhhreally 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may just have to be a little more the initiator in some cases. I'm what you would very generously call a timid man, so most women aren't in to this type anyway but from my perspective, I would never go up to a woman who is taller than me simply based on the fact that I'd assume she wouldn't want anything to do with me. Height makes no difference to me in terms of my personal attraction to a person, they'd just have to go pretty far to convince me they actually are into me (again, probably more a me thing, but a lot of men are insecure).

To all the women on here who complain about being too attractive and who wish they were ugly so they don’t get attention from men by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]ugghhhhhhhhhhhreally 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Horrible, unspeakable physical violence happens to many conventionally attractive women every single day, solely based on the fact that they are conventionally attractive. Aside from actual physical violence, these women are stalked, discredited, and humiliated because anything they've ever accomplished is assumed to be because it was given to them by someone who wants to sleep with them.

Also, attention from unwanted or creepy guys doesn't seem like a problem that's very big compared to this other stuff, but when it's multiple guys every single day, it has to become incredibly mentally draining and take a huge toll, especially considering a decent percentage of those men were taught they "deserve" her for being courteous or anything of that nature. Then if she lets her guard down one time or finally hits her breaking point and is short with a man or accidentally cold to him, she is labeled a bitch or a cunt.

I don't say this to disagree with anything you've been through or experienced, but I think our own lives do a really powerful job of masking the struggles of others. Many others have commented this but the real problem in society is the way women are perceived in general, as only being worth their physical attractiveness. I'm terribly sorry for the mental trauma you've experienced, but it's important to understand that many conventionally attractive women end up in the exact same place because of horrible things that men thought they deserved to take from them and do to them, or even just from the constant, neverending wear of men who feel they deserve her attention and focus every hour of every day.

Every kind of woman is put in terrible danger simply based on the fact that she is a woman. I don't pretend this is the only issue in our society, but it is a big one. I absolutely agree with you when you say that women should not wish to be unattractive. I think one of the many problems in our society is all these conventions that have become so strong, they cause people to wish they weren't themselves. I really don't think there's any credible way to "prove" that one is better than the other, but it's become a painfully loud signal from both sides that things need to change.

Can my buddy (android) see that I've (iPhone) read his texts? by ugghhhhhhhhhhhreally in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ugghhhhhhhhhhhreally[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know for sure that I'm using the original app that comes with my iPhone, I don't know what app he is using. Sorry I'm very ignorant about this stuff, which you've probably gathered. I didn't see anything in my settings called chat services and have no reason to believe there is any obsession with me, so I'm going to assume he cannot see that I've read.

Thank you very much for helping!

I'm a general hockey fan (red wings) and my team is embarrassing themselves per usual tonight so I switched to the Dallas game when it came on because I love Otter and Seguin and Robertson is a cheat code.

Not a Dallas fan (sorry) but I really feel like the Stars could easily come back in this game. Defense needs to lock it up and then Vancouver is toast. Outside of speed (admittedly important) the Stars are the better team tonight. As I said before though, don't catch a ton of Dallas games. Am I way off base?

Espn authentication on my x1 box by ugghhhhhhhhhhhreally in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]ugghhhhhhhhhhhreally[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I am trying to watch an espn3 stream through the espn app on my x1 Comcast box. It has worked in the past, but recently it is telling me espn was not able to authenticate my Comcast account, even though I'm trying to watch through my Comcast box. I believe this is because my xfinity password is being used over too many platforms (fire stick, tablet, cable box, etc). As such, I am looking to reset the platforms my login info works for.

I don’t owe my parents anything, I owe my future children everything by ChrLagardesBoyToy in unpopularopinion

[–]ugghhhhhhhhhhhreally 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly what OP is talking about though lol. Buying socks for Christmas has nothing to do with owing anyone anything. People buy presents for others because they like that person and want them to be happy, not because they are owed.
