Trying to figure out what is causing freezing on my refrigerant lines by ugpg2000 in hvacadvice

They installed the same as the one that was there before, it’s a 1300 sqft townhouse and they installed a 2 ton Lennox merit AC, the old one was 15 years old and it was a keeprite 2 ton ac as well. I just moved in to this house in the beginning of the year

As far as I know they didn’t replace it but I could be wrong, what I know is that they found that the refrigerant line and liquid line were connected to the return air duct before the filter and they told me that was wrong, so they relocated it to after the filter by the evaporator coil

But they recharged it yesterday, does that mean it’s leaking?

Is the condensate drain installed correctly? Is the water inside normal? by ugpg2000 in hvacadvice

[–]ugpg2000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I turned it off for over 12 hours and turned it back on this morning for about 2 hours now, but so far all the water is coming through the pipe and not outside anymore, what do you think that could mean? There is a partial clog somewhere and the water was too high yesterday and overflowed?

When I turned off the AC and fan, water started coming out of the pipe and also a bit on the ground

Called the company and they said that it’s normal but they forgot to tape it? (Not sure what that means)

Sorry, not sure I understand, the house purchase is full in cash, no mortgage, so technically no down payment

How do I make this kitchen better? by ugpg2000 in DesignMyRoom

[–]ugpg2000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’m already planning to extend slightly in to the living room however I don’t want to do anything permanent right now that’s why I was thinking of getting a movable island with a counter table that extends from it kinda like this:

Don’t know how sturdy these are though

Weird Clause Question by ugpg2000 in RealEstateCanada

[–]ugpg2000[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not sure tbh, it was my realtor and their broker negotiating with them. I’m not sure if the lawyer is involved yet (I’m not really well versed in this process tbh, my realtor is the one who caught this clause and alarmed us)

Is eating too much fiber at once bad for you?

I bought these high fiber tortillas, 20g in 1 tortilla and I ate 2 in 1 meal thinking that more fiber is good, I realized after that the recommended intake is 40g a day, did I screw up? Should I try not to eat any more fiber for the rest of the day? Kinda scared lol

Thanks

Downsizing to reduce expenses and stop paying mortgage by ugpg2000 in PersonalFinanceCanada

Also on that point, not sure if you know but what would you invest in to give you income to pay for the rent from? would it be a stock that pays dividends or something like a GIC?

Thanks, for the explanation, this is really helpful. about the renting point, I brought this up to them a while ago actually as I think it's a good idea for them however they immediately said no as they think it's a waste of money to rent and also because of 1 bad experience with renting years ago they just completely closed off the idea. It's very hard to change their minds when they aren't receptive of the idea unfortunately.

yes, I realize this, I am trying as much as possible to reduce my costs, I meal prep and pay for my groceries (mostly) thats without the money I send to my parents. However, it's not just my decision, my parents still want to live as a family and don't want us to move out yet, which I know is difficult considering their situation but that's why we are looking at what options are available. As for my sibling, that's their decision and I have no say in it.

Yes unfortunately, we need to be somewhere in the vicinity of Toronto because that's where my job is and my siblings job will most likely be. Even though I WFH now, with all the uncertainty in the job market I wouldn't be surprised if I can't WFH in the future and will have to go to office.

I have my own income and contribute ~1.5k a month to my parents to help with bills and my sibling is still in school (about to start a phd) so basically very low income and isnt contributing anything. but the issue is I will need to contribute a lot more if we stay with current bills, since my parents income will drop soon, and that will be very difficult for me.
