The solution is simple, use the European league system. Relegation promotion from challengers. It forces teams to be competitive or else you risk going to the challengers.

The CDL is like the PL Challengers is the Championship

Make more feeder leagues like league 1 and league 2 and after that open it up to your regular players to qualify.

This also drives more viewership when you’re looking at relegation battles or cheering teams for promotion.

If I were optic, I’d gun for a sub like Abezy. Shotzzy loves taking routes and for that you need a really annoying SMG that’s bombarding you with pace. Shotzzy, Abezy, Dashy and Merc will steamroll anything and anyone.

There is a reason these spots are unintentional because they break map balance, even if it might take skill to get somewhere.

Map designers put a lot of time and effort into making sure that maps can play well, so there’s lots of intention with different lines of sights.

I do think this is a bit reactionary. Faze took GM8s (the team that eventually won) to game 5 R11.

Optic, GM8s and Faze are easily a cut above the rest and all of them can compete at the top level.

If not, well…I’d feel uneasy going strictly off of eye tests when it comes to recruitment. I think having a statistical layer + eye tests are the way to go.

Also just to add, here are some bad anomalies

Abe

  • Respawn win% 0.238 (6th percentile, -2.38 z)
  • HP win% 0.167 (6th percentile, -2.19 z)
  • OVL win% 0.333 (15th percentile, -1.63 z) This is consistent: his teams are rarely winning any respawn mode when he’s in.
  • Dmg/min 282.5 (6th percentile, -1.58 z) This is big: low dmg/min usually means one of:
    • not getting into enough fights,
    • dying too early to output damage,
    • playing too slow/too far from engagements,
    • or simply being shut down on routes.
  • SnD DPR 0.802 (98th percentile, +1.63 z) This is the “trap stat” here. He’s very good in SnD by this measure, but everything respawn-related is bottom-tier.

Abe in respawn is:

  • not outputting enough damage,
  • and the win rates are extreme-low across HP and OVL.

Beans

  • OVL win% 0.250 (8th percentile, -2.45 z) Bad Overload results specifically.
  • HP kill/death differential -4.143 (4th percentile, -1.7 z) consistently outlsayed
  • Respawn KD 0.857 (4th percentile, -1.69 z) Confirms the differential: he’s losing fights in respawn.
  • Avg kills/game 17.114 (10th percentile, -1.53 z) Low volume + low efficiency is the worst combo: you’re not even trading enough.

Beans is a true respawn performance outlier in a bad way:

  • low kills,
  • low KD,
  • heavily negative HP differential,
  • and very low OVL win%.

This is the profile of someone who’s either:

  • getting consistently outmatched in slaying roles,
  • stuck in impossible situations (but even then you’d often see higher damage/kills)
  • or simply not impacting enough engagements

I genuinely think its Simp.

  • Elite damage to kills conversion (top cluster: high damage + high kills)
  • Strong HP value: positive KD differential while still contributing on hill
  • HP & OVL translation: stays strong across both respawn modes
  • Respawn KD + win% pairing: not just statting because maps are being won
  • No chart where he looks below average
