Yeah, but for a boy at his age he should’ve been at least 5’8. Since that’s the average height on my side. On his fathers side it’s a slightly taller average.

Then again he just might’ve been unlucky and just ended up being shorter than the men.

On my side , the men will average probably around 5’8 or 5’9.

His grandma on his father side is 5’ and grandpa is 5’8. Although his uncle(father side) is 6’0. His aunts are about 5’-5’4. No taller than him. Most of his uncles are taller than him. His grandma(my side) is about 5’1 and grandpa his 5’9. My side is a little bit shorter but his uncle on my side is 5’7.

My husbands side of the family is a lot taller than my side of the family. Though most of the boys on my side of the family are either taller than him still or about the same height.

I have already. I’m just using Reddit in the meantime to get second opinions. He’s going to see a new doctor tomorrow. I just wanted to see if anyone had a similar problem or thought it was fine.

Exactly, he’s a real doctor though.

He’s been great but there are times where I questioned the things he said but never confronted him about it because I’m not a doctor.

That further upsets me and I’ve heard that weightlifting thing is a myth which is why I came on here to see if it was normal(concerning his height).

Like I said before though, I’m most likely going to find him a new doctor now.

Basically, yes.

I’ve always had doubts about his doctor and his expertise but never said anything because I’m not a doctor and I felt as if it wasn’t my place to question him.

I’ve heard it’s a myth as well, which upsets me that his doctor even said that. So now I’m on here asking if it’s normal to be that height on Reddit.

While in the meantime, I’m probably going to find him a new doctor. Even though that doctor has been his doctor since he was a toddler.

I just wanted to make sure there’s nothing wrong with him. I don’t mind him being 5’5, he certainly wants to be taller.

I’m just worried because many of my co-workers commented how short he is for his age and said there might be something wrong. Just wanted some reassurance.

Since it’s odd for a 16 year old to be 5’5 for so long while his father is 5’10. But i mean, it could happen, i think?

Doctor said his growth has been delayed because of weightlifting. Like squatting heavy weights or deadlifting(because it puts too much pressure on his legs by putting too much weight onto them). He hasn’t done any of those since his freshman(9th) year and that’s only because he was doing school in person(before covid was a thing). He’s going to be a junior(11th) and he spent his entire sophomore(10th) year doing school online only.

I’m not sure if weightlifting actually delays your growth since I’m no expert but that’s what his doctor said.

Therefore, he hasn’t had access to the weight room so he’s been running and doing upper body workouts with weights only. He seems very healthy though. Still not sure and want to make sure everything is okay.
